pipeman
For those that missed the thread in the bitchin' room, I suggested that this site should have a FAQ, then Tom suggested I put one together, so here we are with this thread. I will facilitate organising it and getting it together, but being a newbie grower cannot do it without a major contribution from experienced growers, especially on the more advanced topics like nute management, pests, breeding etc because on things like this I have virtually no idea. Or maybe we decide the FAQ shouldn't deal with advanced topics, only basic information? At this stage everything is up in the air. OK so at this point I'm looking for any ideas people have about the FAQ, including what we should call it, what type of info it should have, how it should be structured, what topics it should have etc etc. For those that have already posted suggestions in the Bitchin room, feel free to repost them here if you like so they're all in one place. My plan at this stage is to get a brainstorming session going so we can all (or mostly) agree on a skeleton format, then we can work on filling it out, all with the contributions of Ozstoners members and links to various topics already posted throughout the forums. and hopefully after it all comes together Ozstoner will think its worthwhile enough to add permanently to what is already the best MJ site on the net. Buster
Well, I think that a good place to start would be to outline the basic botany of MJ. It could be called "Maraijuana Life Cycle" and could cover basic Nute needs and the different stages of growth including micro nutrients and trace elements. Try not to forget what you are trying to achieve, IMO it needs to cover subjects needed to get newb growers up and running with a decent idea of the basic priciples. It could be very easy to have far to much info for it to be easily digestable for people who are starting out, subjests like breeding and advance nute managment are subjects which are the core of new and intresting threads, after all, if someone had a question about breeding and was told "read the FAQ's" then we may all mis out on the brain storming threads which make the site what it is. Tom
Keep it very basic and in plain English, when you have enough information on a subject post it, if anyone want's more then they can post a query, the answer could also be edited into the FAQ (somebody please suggest a better name). Feel free to link to or quote from posts on the site, they are there for growers to use, but please ensure that the author is acknowledged. A glossary of terms used on this site would be a useful addition too. http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/contrib/ruinkai/coolgleamA.gif
white_cluster
I think the advanced stuff should be missed out. Some of the breeding stuff at overgrow is written by people like Mr_Soul, etc..... I also agree with everything buster said. yeah, FAQ sounds insulting, but what else could it be??
Paranoid
Maybe it should be split up into say 2 groups, "Newbies" & "Experienced".The main thing would be to concentrate on a basic Newbies section to get the newbies up and running. As has been said, You have got a lot of it put togeather already with the great info and pics of your experiments. Guest
Heya pipe, Just an idea for what you could put in the faq, not sure if you have considered it yet. Maybe we could have a summary of common australian homegrown strains? That would be a good place to start for people looking into getting seeds/clones inside australia, and it'd also encourage people to come here as info on aussie strains aren't as widely available as other strains around the world.
