how the hell do I use my own pic for avatar?? it needs a pic on the net and mine is on my hard drive

Mine is one of my favourite pictures out of a collection on my hard drive, I opened it up with paint and reduced it to fewer than 100 x 100 pixels, I then uploaded it using the "Edit Avatar" section of "My Controls".

 

To reduce your picture:

 

1, open the picture with MS Paint

2, click on the select box (below the "Edit" menu)

3, drag the select frame over the picture

4, locate the mouse on the bottom right corner of the frame, it becomes a two pointed arrow.

5, drag the corner up and left watching the pixel count in the bottom right of the screen

6, when it is less than 100 x 100 pixels and looks proportional save it with an appropriate name in .jpg format

 

After you have done this you can upload it using the "Edit Avatar" section of "My Controls".

i cant see any where to upload it, other than from a web site,

"My Controls" then "Edit Avatar Settings" then "Browse" just like for uploading pictures.

Am I really wasted? I can't find a browse button, I had to upload to a directory on a site then point the avatar selector to there. Seems a bit of mucking around
