It fell over....

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Had a durban poison seedling just fall over the other day out of the blue! It went into my cupboard when it was about 1" in hight after it had its first set of leaves. Ive got a fan on them (also got 3 poison dwarfs) and its only the DP thats done this. Ive got it proped up but the stem looks weak. Should I tape it up to a splint or just leave it proped up and hope for the best? Never had this happen before :applause:

cheers

Bad luck nici. If it was me i would sacrifice it to the weed gods and start again. Sounds like it don't want to be there if others are doing good. I have had that happen before and just left it where it fell. It started growing again, i just scraped a bit of bark back and layered it. Two plants even better than one :applause:.

Hi mate.....sorry to here ya having dramas B)

You can use straws to help hold em up.......cut the straw to the length of the stem.... then slice it down the side......then open the straw and put it around the stem.....then poke it into the medium(just enough to stand up)..

hope that makes sense :haha:

It could also be a case of "damping off"...aka root rot(i think :applause: ) .......This is coursed by a number of things, like....over watering, roots lacking oxygen or high humidity.......if you feel this is the case just hold back on the water, lower humidity and increase room air circulation.....but like Gazza said...they sound too young/small to have a fan facing directly onto em......

or as hardeyes says.........piss em off n start again ;).......i would :bongon:

Chron B) ;)

yer, never point a fan straight at seedling it will couse seedling to loose to much water and wilt.

i have a found a good little trick with my seedlings, what i do when they are small is, play around very lightly with the stems of the seedlings. you got to be very very carefull when doing this, but i sort of roll the little steams between my finger tips ever so lightly and give it tinny little bends NOT SO MUCH IT SNAPS. and this make the steams get really strong and fat, also this seems to help out with the seedlings streching too

when you get the hang of this little trick you can take things a little further by giving the stems a little squeeze and sort of crushing the steam just a little bit, when i say a little bit i MEAN that too

try this out one day on some seedlings you do not care about to much untill you get the feel for it :applause:

posted this a little while ago in the growing section

Quote Hightimes:

BREAKING

Breaking is an advanced technique(Supercropping II, Sep. 00 HIGH TIMES) whereby you break the inner herd of the plant without damaging the outer, which is where all the plants strength comes from. Break open the stalk of a cannabis plant and you'll notice immediately the hard, outer herd. This is where textiles come from. The soft inner, lighter colored material is pure cellulose.

The plant passes water and nutrients cell to cell through this network of cellulose. Breaking the plant's inner walls will cause it to rebuild. But it rebuilds these networks better than they were before; it rebuilds so fast (under good growth conditions) that 24 hours later the plant is using the new highways and it's increased capacity for moving water and nutrients.

This technique can begin as early as the seedling stage. Twisting the plant gently, using both hands so you don't pull on it's roots. Work each of the plants branches every 2", up to once week. Do this by grasping the spot to be treated with two fingers of each hand. Use one hand to stabilize, while the other gently, slowly twists. Or you can twist with both hands in opposite directions, slowly until you feel a slight snap. When the plant's get heartier you will actually be able to hear it.

cheers
