Sawyers Summer Grow 08/09

Recommended Posts

Well, what an eventful day it was today.

I went to visit Aussie Sugar to see how she fared after all the rain. To my horror I found her lying down on the ground, literally washed right over by a torrent of water. She was not in good shape.

This presented me quite a dilemma, as I am heading interstate tomorrow morning for the weekend.

I could either prop her up with some stakes and hope for the best whilst I was gone, or....harvest.

I chose the latter.

Ideally I would of loved to give her another 2 weeks to finish off completely, but the circumstances could not be helped.

So, I pulled the plant and I've spent all afternoon trimming and getting my fingers sticky. Unfortunately several colas are quite dirty from laying on the ground, hopefully I can clean them up a bit when they dry out.

Here are the results for your viewing pleasure:

Main colas with beer bottle for scale.

Total harvest layed out.

post-679-1238673611_thumb.jpg

Branches hung up to dry.

So ends the story of 'Aussie Sugar'. (Sept 30th 2008-April 2nd 2009)

Total yield wet approx 4-5pounds. I will post dry yield in a couple of weeks.

thankyou very much for sharing that with us sawyer i enjoyed it a great deal :peace:

sorry you had to cut her short but i think you did the right thing.. for 2 reasons

1. she is out of the ground now so no one can find her rippers/cops :)

2. she is up drying and wont get fucked by mould sitting in the water you found her in

top job brother she looks to be a good strain with a good yield

hope you have a safe trip

Thanks Shroomy,

Overall I am quite happy with the result.

This plant was a pleasure to deal with; healthy, vigouous and resistant to pest/diseases.

I would recommend her also as an indoor strain. There was minimal stretch at all during flower.

As you can see, outdoors she was a good little yielder. I have no doubts that had she been given another fortnight she would have filled out even more. :freak:

Funny you mention the paranoia about being ripped. I know exactly what you mean. The closer to harvest, the more worried I got. It just comes down to having more to lose at that stage of the season.

I've learnt quite a lot from this grow, and certainly look forward to starting another one outdoors in 6 months or so.

I might try a different strain (though I did keep half a dozen Aussie Sugar clones).

Finally some photos to show her journey:

This is how she started out several months ago, ended up looking like this, and then finally this.

So, thanks to all who showed interest and commented in my thread, it's nice to hear kind words to help stay motivated.

Awesome mate, Im going to start growing soon, there is so much lantana around here.

Should be able to be concealed easily.

BTW, gratz on this one, it really blends in with the bush.

Regards.

Hi fellow smokers i have been lurking on this site for about 3 weeks trying to soak up as much information as i can and now i would like to ask some opinions on my first grow, would love some feedback or any information possible so i can cut out as many mistakes as possible.Ok so im trying to get some plants going and i am experimenting with 2 different grow mediums, i currently have 4, 1 month old plants sprouted from bag seeds from some awesome chronic that i smoked, they are set up in an average sized cupboard under 2x 42watt 6500k cfls 2x 18watt 4200k cfls and 2 x 10 watt 2700k cfls. The grow medium for 3 of the plants is a cheap 5 dollar bag of potting mix from kmart and 1 is 1/3 perlite 1/3 vermiculite and 1/3 peat moss. Air intake is 1 small desk fan cut into the side of the cupcoard, venting is 1 standard 250ml bathroom extraction unit. i have Introduced nutrients 2 weeks ago at 1/4 strength and 1 week ago up to 3/4 strength, it is organic fertilizer called garden magic from our local nursery at 10-3-4. On one of the pictures attached you can see some leaf tips are discoloured and on another picture one of the lower leaves of the plant has a yellowish colour and seems much lighter then the other plants. Looking at some other posts it seems maybe my plants seem to not be growing as fast as they should does anyone have any suggestions as to why this would be happening? Also any other comments or mistakes you can see i have made form the pictures attached, any suggestions to improve my first growing experience would be much appreciated, thanking you in advance for an unreal site and for anyone who has any suggustions, bong on...

Cheers mate, best of luck and remember, resourcefulness is next to godliness when it comes to growing.
