Drowning in the sea of nutrients.. kinda lost.. :)

Recommended Posts

Cheers for all the replies.. after reading alot of different posts throughout the forum, I'm pretty sure I've got things figured.. basically I think I've totally overkilled with my 400w HPS setup.. got two plants in basically an enclosed closet with one small intake fan.. one small outtake fan, and I'm pretty sure it's a temp issue.. so after further reading.. I went ahead with the flush anyways.. think the ph is right.. but I thought I'd kill the temp issue by buying a CFL 120w globe, and I've also got both dutch master's grow nutrients and their penetrator nutrient on its way too.. Though I was kinda wondering about the amount of light the fluros put out compared to the HPS.. I've basically got a 2ft by 2ft closet, 8ft high.. and i read somewhere that the fluros are the way to go.. any ideas? again thanks.. and as always... comments and replies are always appreciated! ;)

stick with the 400.......just put in a cheap exhaust fan at the top to suck out the heat and bring new air in,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,fluros are crap for flowering.................fluros=fuck all heads .......400=90gms to 400gms.......................your thinking to much,,,,learn from your grows

Hey cheers Loggerking, always appreciate the replies.. can you suggest any decent exhaust fans on a budget? I had a look into it, but wasn't really sure what to go with (or even search for for that matter) I'm also kinda wondering if I should go the fluro for the veg stage, then switch to the 400w HPS for the flowering? Do you get decent veg growth with fluros? I just thought it might be a good temp. fix while I redevelop my grow closet (fans etc.) I know I'm probably over thinking all this, just want to get a decent grow going here, and could really use some great advice on the fans.. exhaust fan at the top and a smaller cpu style fan at the bottom to pull air in? I've got air blowing on the plants now from a little fan inside which is actually working pretty well at lowering the temp to below 30 (at 60 cm HPS).. again thanks.. really appreciate all the help.. and if any of you are at all interested, just thought I might get a few ideas out there, posted my top 10 films to watch stoned at the following link.. feel free to reply.. ;) https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners...showtopic=21245 Edited by smokeymcpot

just get the cheapest you can get at bunnings or k mart or somewhere,,about $20 for a toilet or bath room one.......stick to the 400...keep it high for veg and about 40cm for flower,,,,,,,,then put both the little ones you have pumping in.....if you go back to fluro now you will make the plant go mafro.................fluro is ok for veg ,,but slower

G'day smokeymcpot

What is your budget as far as ventilation goes?

If you can only afford a cheap bathroom fan ($20-$40) then that will have to do. In my experience they make a racket and don't really move much air, although they are definitely better than nothing.

If you can manage to scrape together around $200 you should check out something like this. Sounds like a lot of money, but IMHO it is worth it. These fans move around 220 litres of air per second, your plants will love it.

I hope you don't think I'm a fan salesman ;)

Don't even think about the CFL 120w globe, trust me they are crap. Put the money you were going to spend on the fluoro towards a decent fan like the one Naycha suggested .... even a fan with half that pulling power will make the world of difference. You don't need an intake fan, any half decent fan pulls enough air through the cracks.

In summer try and route the incoming air around the reservoir to keep the water cool.

Keep looking around on Ebay you might find a cheaper fan .... or the local tender centre if there is one near you. Tender centres put through a lot of hydro equipment and it usually goes very very cheap.
