kangas and fences

Recommended Posts

We don't have roos here, but we have deer and ground hogs. The deer won't eat it after flowering starts, but the ground hogs will pull off the branches and eat the leaves, leaving the flowers like bones. I use three feet of 36" chicken wire to make a cage, then used three, five foot sections of rebar (the steel bars used to reinforce concrete) to firm it up. I usually put one of these around each plant, but in cases of a briar patch or decent thicket, where i have a limited space that I've cleared to pack em in, I'll just line the whole pocket with the wire placing a rebar section every three feet.

I haven't had anything eaten in four or five years.
