Anna Bligh got high on drugs as a teenager

Recommended Posts

QUEENSLAND Premier Anna Bligh has admitted to smoking marijuana as a teenager in the 1970s.

Ms Bligh said she gave it up because it made her sick.

"Like many other people in the late 1970s, yes I did encounter marijuana at parties, but I'm pleased to say, for my sake, it made me sick and I didn't go on to become anyone who used it regularly," she said.

Ms Bligh's admission comes days after Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan admitted to smoking the drug in his youth.

However, Ms Bligh said smoking the drug was not the major regret of her teenage years.

"What I have major regrets about is ever trying a cigarette and smoking for 10 years of my life," she said.

"If I could give advice to young people I'd say `don't try any of it, but most importantly don't touch cigarettes.'"

Just gets better with the police minister, Judy Spence, admitting she experimented with a bit of a puff.

Interesting the pollie's coming out of the closet. :D

It'd also be interesting to know how former acquaintances from these parties, they had in the 70's are coping nowadays. Fair chance none had any adverse effects while toking over the years. Well, maybe the odd one might be still living in the 70's. lol

With this admittance, i hope they spare us the BS and do something positive for a change...

Anyone who was around universities in the 70s, 80s and 90s knows that pot was hugely popular and quite mainstream. Even the nerdiest students could be smokers. Today these people are leading the country. The problem is that they all say they regret it. Where's the politician with enough guts to say they smoked kilos of pot, enjoyed it and wasn't harmed by it. Don't hold your breath for that little act of political suicide.

Another thing is that some of these politicians have fallen for the line that pot is 30x stronger and is all evil hydro, not the good old hippie stuff they smoked in their youth.

Not having a go at Anna or Wayne Swan. Just the bullshit in general.

I just want to know why they are 'outing' themselves!

Is there going to be random drug testing of politicians? To answer that you can bet there will no testing.

And that's cool.

I hope there is more coming out over the next few days. The more the merrier.

Reading between the lines Anna Bligh said to young people if you are going to smoke something then try cannabis rather than tobacco.

That's my take on it anyway. :D
