Children in drug den danger

 

SIX children aged as young as five have been forced to live and sleep within metres of toxic chemicals and cancer-causing cannabis plants - all because their parents wanted a quick dollar.

 

Police yesterday revealed the children had been found living with their parents in two houses in Sydney's southwest used to grow hydroponic cannabis crops.

 

And police believe a baby had been living in a third cannabis "hydro house" raided this week, with a baby's cot, baby clothes and toys found near a crop of 49 plants within the home. They are trying to trace the child.

 

The children's parents now face tough new jail terms of up to 24 years for endangering the safety of their children while acting as paid "crop sitters" for organised drug syndicates.

 

Since Tuesday, police have uncovered seven hydro houses during raids in Cabramatta, Fairfield, Bonnyrigg, Guildford and Smithfield.

 

They seized a total of 1450 cannabis plans with a potential street value of up to $5 million. Three men and three women have been charged.

 

On Wednesday, police made a dawn raid on a Fairfield home where they found four children aged 5, 8, 10 and 14 living in a house with a large cannabis crop.

 

Their mother was arrested and charged with enhanced indoor cultivation of a commercial quantity of cannabis, exposing a child to risk and stealing electricity.

 

Diverting electricity from the power grid is a common practice used by people running hydro houses to power the high-strength lights used to make the plants grow.

 

Acting Assistant Commissioner Frank Mennilli said the children's living conditions exposed during the raid were "extremely concerning".

 

"In this particular house, the children were sleeping in the room next door to where over 100 cannabis plants were growing," he said.

 

"So not only do you have the odour from the plants but also you have the chemicals used in relation to the growth of these plants.

 

"You also have a number of risks attached to hydro houses through high use of electricity . . . there's always the risk of fires. Over the past three years 11 houses had burnt down through the excessive use of electricity."

 

Yesterday, police raided a home in Fairfield where they seized 134 cannabis plants and arrested a man, 50, and his wife, 45.

 

Their son, 11, and daughter, 15, were living in the home.

 

The parents are expected to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.

 

Acting Assistant Commissioner Frank Mennilli said the children were now in the care of relatives and the Department of Community Services was notified.

1)What are these toxic chemicals?

2)Provide proof that being near cannabis plants is dangerous

3)provide proof that being near cannabis plants is cancer causing (an ABSURD claim)

4)Does the Journalist who wrote this NONSENSE own a calculator?

5) 5 mil divided by 1450=$3448 per plant

6) $3448 per plant at $10 per gram (absolute top dollar price wholesale)=344 grams per plant

7)These plants (and it's mostly true for all indoor MJ) would have a maximum yield of 112 grams per plant and a more realistic yield per short grown MJ plant would be 84 grams per plant ( go to any cannabis grow forum and you will see these figures I provide are accurate)

8) This works out to 121800 grams or 121.8 kilos

9) average kilo price at the moment is approx $9000

10)$9000 times 121.8 kilos = $1,096,200

11)ultimately the maximum return is none died ,yields indeed managed to be 3 ounces per plant retailed at $20 a gram by the time it travels down the chain to "stick" sellers is $2,192,400 which is far less money than the police's absurd claim of $5 mil

This is nothing more than "Reefer Madness Hysteria" and you(the Tele and cops) should be ashamed of telling outright lies ,OMG cannabis plants growing induce cancer,gee don't eat lettuce or tomatoes or hydro strawberries then as there grown with the same "toxic chemicals" as well but when its a legal crop it's called FERTILIZER.

So how do you come to that conclusion if my partner is Calabrian ,you know Calabria in Sicily part of Italy and home of the mafia and the notorious 'Ndrangheta ???

 

Sorry to rain on your Italian parade but Calabria is definately not part of Sicily, they both have their own distinct mafia. Calabria occupies the toe of the so called boot, while Sicily is floating out at sea (in the process of getting kicked by the toe).

This is all a load of shit.. total propaganda ... the whole reason they caught onto these houses was they got a tip Someone was giving away free equipment to people usually they were in financial troubles who were using their houses with this equip and the other stuff supplied and just trying to get a head.. Now after they sieze every bit of hydro equip at shop and asset he had they started to look elsewhere down the line...

Those reports make me wanna laugh , cry and get angry all at the same time .. the utter stupity of it all ffs

 

How many families are they going to destroy if they persist with these laws .. takin peoples kids is way overboard .. (Although if the parents are going to prison anyway maybe they would end up in the same place regardless , like with an Aunt/Uncle etc ..?) .. hmmm ...

But I still think that rewiring the electricity is the main thing that , again , has caught these people out and made them to seem even more "criminal" .. not to mention there are dangers in having a large power hungry setup , especially if It's rewired ..

There has been fires because of this and If kids are sleepin near it then arguably that is dangerous ..
