Government plans to ban bongs 2

Recommended Posts

G'day!

I run a small online cannabis news portal over in the UK, and with the news breaking regarding the Oz government planning to try to ban bongs and such like, how that would affect you guys?

I would love to be able to include opinions from "on the ground" oz stoners so any opinions at all, please weigh in with them and we'll get the eyes of the world looking at ya's.

Out of respect for the Oz stoners admin I wont post a link to the portal unless invited. :)

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

All the best

the main reason for them going the ban is the uprise of the ICE age. people are frying themselves using glass ICE pipes bought from our head shops or tobacco shops. so many new psycho cases hitting our hospital system all caused by the ice epidemic. the ban has been a long time coming but, have been hearing things about it for a long time. yeah it will suck not being able to get bong supplies readilly here but, where there's a will there's a way!! thats what the net is for isn't it!!

High Cannazine, I can't speak for the owners of OzStoners but I'll make a personal opinion, post your link Brit Bud because I cannot imagine that it will be an issue but if your concerned PM a Mod or OzStoner and ask and let me tell you I would be most surprised if the answer was anything other than "why didn't you just post it in the first place as we are all in this together, fighting TOGETHER to repeal UNJUST and DISCRIMINATORY laws and have cannabis RE-LEGALISED" but your obviously a polite person with manners and that can never be criticized as more in the world like yourself could only make it a better place.

To answer your question, well they better ban all plastic juice bottles and all garden hose as bongs made from these items were very common in the 80's (colloquially known as "Orchy Bongs" ,name taken from a once common brand of OJ which made the best bongs because of the molded shape and there availability)when NSW banned "the display for sale of bongs" legislation which is still in place so in NSW other than Nimbin and the odd shop here and there they are not on display for sale , you select from a catalogue and it comes out from hiding in a plain brown paper disguise :)

nb. my signature a permanent ad to 2 of my sites ! let's trade links lol

and of course I nearly left out WELCOME to OzStoners. :)

Jess Stone and sunny coast stoner..guys thanks for the replies and the welcome.

I understand about people making bongs etc, but thats not really the issue as I see it. I reckon there must be millions of dollars in stock tied up at various distribution warehouses through Oz, and almost over-night the government could make it illegal, putting a lot of people out of pocket in one fell swoop.

Also, if this ban happens surely that sets a precedent which could easily spread onto hydroponic supplies used in the production of cannabis, and regardless of whether they have a "bona-fide" use or not?

Which has implications throughout the industry I would of thought. Lest face it, its a big market--Australia.

whats the legal status regarding cultivation and such?

Are there any decriminalised zones? (in case I ever get my act together and emigrate somewhere warm and sympathetic)?

Cheers guys. Great to be here!

There has been wind of this for a while now, didn't this pop up a few months ago? Retailers would only have themselves to blame if they are out of pocket.

As for our 'leaders' tough decision, I doubt whether you could find a more despised person than a Labour or Liberal politician at the moment.

We are electing and paying these useless fucks to produce services like this, while the nation dry's out from lack of water infrastructure, silly eh? but as sunnycoast stoner said this is their best answer to the ice plague at the moment.

See Australia is prone to the same type of crap the rest of the world is, which is why events, such as the Nimbin Mardis Grass should be supported whole heartedly and is one of the few avenues to protest and change things. Bongs have always been banned{sorry, banned for a long time now, lmao} in Queensland but some places get away with selling the stems and cones separate.

Hi bufo marinus - nice to meet ya pal.

So I guess a lot of what goes on, goes on by mail order?

How do you fair with regard to getting the stuff (pipes, seeds etc), through your borders?

I know in the states things are as tight as a drum just now. Is Oz likely to go the same way ya's reckon?

hey cannazine,

i do not believe that this is a huge issue, yes it has been in the pipeworks for a while now. The main reason for the government to have taken so long in already doin this, would be the fact that anyone can make a bong.

They can't illegalise the pieces that make up a bong, so to me this is a none issue that will just overlap when and if this stupid law comes in.

thanks for your comments guys.

Its a topic which will rumble on till a decision is made one way or another I guess.

In the meantime I gave a few of you a mention here.

Not sure if the copy & paste thing is allowed so if it is, feel free.

Thanks again

Just checked the formatting and it looks terrible in internet explorer, (designed in firefox).

I'll go and have a twiddle..

Bufo, I think your right about bongs being banned in Queensland but many places still sell them ( off ya tree for example).

Cannazine, I note your headline about Oz smokers being indifferent to the ban. I guess we are used to our chosen lifestyle being under constant threat from the authorities. However i think the ban sucks, particularly regarding the banning of harm reduction devices like vapourisers, tar reducing bongs etc. It is a shitty experience sucking smoke through an old plastic "orchy" bottle (aside from the nostalgia) and i wont go back to it. I wonder if my vapor genie would be banned as the instructions clearly state that it is for tobacco use?

Welcome to ozstoners, Cannazine; the more overseas links the better.

Just about anything goes here except of course and rightly child porn and vicious unfounded personal attacks on other OzStoners :) ,the exception is, if their spouting "reefer madness hysteria" as fact then they cop it  ^_^ lol

Here's an interesting fact Cannazine ,the display for sale of bongs ,legislation happened in the early 80's (I think from memory ,but I was stoned  ) but the Australian Capital Territory where Canberra our nations capital is, never banned bongs for sale and it's right smack in the middle of NSW and even more interesting there was once some bitching done by the Liberal(conservatives and MIS-named) Party of NSW - government of the day and it turned out that the largest bong maker/seller Agung Trading of A.C.T's major shareholders and owners were Liberal politicians and party members ! the dirty hypocrites. :)

ps just checked out your site,it gets a 9.9/10 lol Cannazine it's excellent  I like the look a lot it's just like a MSM newspaper site in feel, but not in content(no "Reefer Madness Hysteria propaganda") :)
