you can let it go on and on until all the hairs are orange if you want, but what will end up happening is the THC will continue degrading to CBD. this will alter the affect of the smoke. if you had a microscope you would be able to see the trich's start going orange.

 

some may in fact prefer more of a couch lock stone and therefore prefer to let it flower as long as possible, others argue that the longer you leave it the more resin/oil is produced and the more weight you obtain.

 

imo pull before the trichs go orange not only because a higher THC content is preferrable imo but also because i dont believe the extra few weeks gives you enough of a weight gain to warrant the extra time. for example you could have your next batch in their now kicking away.

 

alternatively, cut off the heads that have more brown pistils tha others and go for a second harvest if your not in a rush.

 

or even pick a few now, then leave a few to mature more and then compare the stone.
