Enricha Co2 Question

Recommended Posts

you will get exactly the same results with bicarb soda and vinegar....... this is how they make co2 using this method.

another great way is brewers yeast.... gives off co2...

my favourite is just plain soda water......

all methods are excellent ways for c02 enrichment.... with out going the whole hog, sealed growroom, injectors with shut of fans and replacement bottles all of with can be a hasle not to mention expensive....

Co2 by no means is a waiste of time....however, personally I do think the whole cost to set up Co2 properly is a waste of money......

it does save grow time(about 1-2 weeks) and it does increase yeild(upto%30)... but everything Ive smoked grown with Co2 injection systems doesnt seem to have as many crystals as done with other methods Ive mention here...

of course its up to the individual.....

Ive seen it around, most hydro shops sell it. So it must be popular.

Myself I think C02 enrichment is a waste on money.

Nah man it's not a waste of money at all. Sure you can spend shite loads on a computer controlled system but who really has that sort of cash.

My co2 setup is basically a fermentation bin from a brew shop with 10kgs of sugar dissolved in 30 L of water using regular bread yeast from the supermarket. The specialist yeasts you get from brew shops can often ferment the whole lot a bit too fast.

From the 10kgs of sugar I get roughly 5 litres of alcohol at 80% strength, which means that the actual alcohol (i.e. 100% alcohol) is about 4 litres.

Now ethanol (the drinkable stuff I distil) has a specific gravity of about 0.81, so that will make the weight of the alcohol 0.81 X 4 = 3.24 kgs. So the remaining portion, 10kgs minus 3.24 kgs = ~ 6.76 kgs of CO2 being released into the room over a few weeks.

Costs?

Fermentation bin - $30

Sugar - $13

Yeast - $4

Water - Bugger all

Sure it's not an exact science, but who gives a crap. I have definitely notice a difference in growth rate and it's a damn sight cheaper than any other co2 system I have ever seen.

I'll be getting myself a co2 monitor in the not too distant future so I'll publish the actual data then

Feel free to correct my mathematical incompetence anyone. :scratchin:

A fermentaion bin, is a plastic container with a lid that seals the bin, it then has a airlock fitted to the top so that the c02 can escape and the brew cant.

it does save grow time(about 1-2 weeks) and it does increase yeild(upto%30)

BULLSHIT< c02 does NOT increase your yeild Unless you plant were bneing starved of c02.

It does speed the process up though, but im never in a hurry.

Faster growth means less healthy plants.
