HELP - plants wilted - high heat and no water!!

Recommended Posts

major problem! must have turned off the timer on the feedng pump two days ago. had a beautiful big scrog going in veg stage which was going to go 12/12 today. went to check and in the current hot summer temps the rockwool dried out and they have wilted badly! havent taken a pic but its like they were hung out to dry for two days, some of the top leaves are so dry they crumble, ALL leaves on the plant have wilted big time. the roots underneath the rockwool are still ok though. i gave em a massive watering straight away and doubled my watering times also turned off half the lights so that they dont stress any more. my questions are:

1. will they survive. im thinking no - but if anyone has had this happen and they came up ok please tell me!

2. if they do survive, how long will they take to get going again and will the final yield be significantly reduced such that its not worth keeping them

3. if the answer to the above question is yes (ie. that the yield will be fucked or that it will take ages for them to rejuvenate) - i have another option as follows:

i have a another veg room which has two plants in each crop box. i can cut the rockwool slab in half and transplant one plant from each box. these other plants are in veg too and are a week away from going 12/12. so they are pretty big. would i be better off doing this and pulling out the wilted plants - or should i leave it a week and see if they come up?

put simply - picture this - every single leaf from top to bottom has wilted!!! there were 12 in there and very healthy. i wanted to cry!

is there any product that i can add to help perhaps - ive heard of something called 'stop wilt' by nulife. could that help or do u think i just pull em up and replace em. damn!

Ok, I'd probably leave them in the dark for a couple of days, plenty of TLC and maybe trim the completley dead leaves off, the ones that are crispy. Trim them back a bit and give them a nice drink and a bit of darkness, so no light for a couple of days at least. MJ is an amazing plant, I've brought some shockers back! lol

Sorry to hear your a victim of the heat and a switch failure perrye75.

Your not alone and I am sure other growers recently becam victims of heat.

Unfortunately the damage would not be restricted to the folage but also the roots from drying out in your medium.

dsyfer ......  Stop wilt won't help, it is for applying to new or pre cut clones it gives tham a waxy type coating stopping evaporation, it will be no good for something that has already wilted

If you can't save anything it's probably best to start over.

i checked the roots underneath the cropbox/rockwool slab (the ones pocking out of the slab) - and they werent dried out. still white - which gave me some hope. but the foliage is mash potato!

i had two drippers clog up on two veg ones a month ago and a similar thing happened - they dried out. i tried to rejuvenate but they never came back, so im inclined to think this will happen to this whole room!! tragedy cause there were 3 strains in there, and two new ones which looked amazing. lucky i took heaps of clones though!!! which are ready to go in a few days (just hardening off now).

this weather is crazy - its 43 today!
