starting DWC scrog grow soon

Recommended Posts

how far should the lights be from my plants

Ah ! The old hand under the light practical test. If it burns hour hnd and your unable to hold your hand directly under the light it is too close. Good method but can be detrimental to your welbeing (ie. burnt hand).

Personally I'd sugest above

In measurements small young plants/clones 2' - 3'. Scrog 8" - 10", most grows 400w set at 12-60cm from the crown.

i was wondering, 5 of my smallest plants still in small pots, could i just cut like the plant in half basically and start that as a clone ?

No need to be so savage. I would not do it ! I would take the new growth tips as clones. I am thinking that these are plants "5 of my smallest plants still in small pots". Have you had these small plants in 12/12? If you should take the plants back to 'full vegitative' state before taaking clones. They will root faster, veg better, bud up beter, & later lead a full and productive life providing you many buds.

ok, im prolly going to use 3 x 45L round tubs. 3 strains. - marley collie, white skunk, skunk 1 and im going to get another reflector for the CF - would the CF best be mounted sideways, or handing down

Big tubs & nice selection :smoke

im going to have 1 screen mounted accross the whole cupboard, not sure of height away from plants yet. would it be best to use a plastic or metal screen ?

Defo plastic - "trellis 2" square is cheap durable (reusable)

how wide should each hole roughlt be ? be enough to fit a fan leaf through ?

Check my Sig link "Scrog grow" - It's not quite DWC but it "Nit's Net" !

Grow well :devilred:

nitram, no there under 18/6. the plants arent big enough to take clones, nor can i be bothered growing them anymore. i have 6 plants in big pots and id rather take clones from them instead of repotting another 5 plants, when i just want to switch to DWC allready!!

im not worried about the plants, as there's no hope, if it was earlier in the outdoor season i would of put them outdoors & made room for my new grow allready.

as long as i get 3 healthy clones, 1 of each strain, i should be sweet.

also, - when doing scrog, can you veg the plants as long as you want (raise the scrreen as needed) to utilise all the space ?

Good idea.

Yes but you may be restricted by 1) amount of streatch (strain dependant) 2) the size of your net (sceeen- you determine).

If you veg too long and your screen "fills" (nice situation) with your bigger buds forming on the end growing tips. I tend to keep the net in place once it's there and fill it up as much as is possible. I have less that 12" of streatch (over 2 weeks) into 12/12 so judge how many plants and the streatch needed to fill the net.

Cheers allhailthebud ....& grow well ! :smoke

hmm,

i cant seem to find anywhere with info on any of my 3 strains, im only really looking for stretch when switched to 12/12..

if each strain stretches different, would that really matter.. ? id like to have the tops of new growth just poking through the screen before switching to flower, and ill try to give the buds as much room apart as i can, will mold come if they are touching ?

cutting your plants at a certain number of nodes is important in scrog isnt it ?

from anyone that has grown scrog before, how many nodes did you tip the plant at ?

hey.

well, im sick of soil allready, the mess, the wrong pH soil, blahh! everything!

It sounds like you bought over the counter soil from kmart, Woollies etc? If this is so, then that would account for a lot of the problems you have encountered. The medium anyone choose's is critical to the plants development and stuff they sell in regular stores just don't really make the grade for most mj growers.

I have used a few mediums and systems from F & D with clay and rockwool too NFT which requires no medium at all. I currently use Canna Coco and from my experience it's the ideal medium especially for a mj grower with less experience.

Soil in theory is the most 'forgiving' medium, but you just have to get the choice right first :smoke !

ok,

i took a few clones today just put them in some clpone powder then into rockwool.. i put some reflective file over the rockwool, because i thought mold might build up untill they grow some roots ?

since i put some of that limestone stuff one of the plants has gone dark green & growing rapidly..

i just wanna take clones and start my hydro, get rid of the dirt all together.

i was also wondering about cloning buds, if you clone a bud like 3" tall, does it take a full flowering cycle for it to end ? & how big do they grow ?

Sound like a full flowered cut........if that is the caase you would need to have nice lighting 20/4 (ie. 400w HID). The problem with using a red spectrum HSP is that the red will keep the plant in some sort of fowering state. That you don't want for the future plant growth. You ideally want a fully reveged plant.

The bottom line is that appropriate lighting should be used.

?

Don't cook em - folier spray !

Goodluck
