Hi all, newbie here so sorry if this is a stupid question but here it is anyway....Any reason why you couldn't use solar panels to power the lighting to "save electricity, avoid detection etc..)? If anyone has, whats the setup like? I'm not planning a million dollar setup up, but roughly 2m x 2.5m x 2m......also does anyone know where I can find the hps wattage calculator needed for room size?? Cheers Paul

Hi everyone, I'm new and live in the Sydney metro area, howsit goin? I'm researching a grow room and would appreciate some advice re lighting and what people have had success with. Obviously I'm budget conscious so don't mind if I don't have the top of the line Rolls Royce model, but don't mind spending some bucks to get the lighting job done first time right time. Probably looking at your standard 2 door chipboard cupboard approx: 1800mm x 900mm x 500mm. Grow room lighting calculators suggest optimum power of 260watts, this seems a bit under done to me (calculator doesn't specify CFL or HID lighting, I suspect the former) anyway I think choice comes down to 400w …

Hi, I am thinking of putting in some Uvb lighting in my garden i was wondering if anyone has had any experiance with this ? And or the scientific facts on why UVB light has such a massive part in Trichome production,size, potency,aroma etc. I will use the 23 Watt Exo Terra 200 UVB rating bulb as it seems to have the highest output of the narrow band spectrum im after. So what i would like too know is How long do i run it for in the 12/12 cycle When should i start to use it like first sign of sex, week 2 flower ? Why dont more people use it ? Photos here; http://imgur.com/a/X0YbQ The measurements of this closet are 145cm (H) x 100cm (W) x 45cm deep. I'm only looking at growing 1 or 2 plants, for personal use. So, my questions/concerns with this closet are mainly to do with ventilation/airflow, and light. I'm not looking at a full hydro setup as i'm trying to grow as cheap as possible. Will two extraction fans in series (One after the other) double the output or should the fans be parallel (Side by side) to shift double the air? Fans in question are allvent 100mm.

Just wanted to check with some people that know what they are talking about when it comes to electrics I got some cheapo grow lush 120w cfls a few years ago that came with the e39/e40 socket fixture . Stamped on the ceramic part is - MP E39/E40 500v 1500w 4kv . I am no electrician but want to know is the regulator for the cfl built into the cfl ? Therefor safe to use the fixture with a 400/600w hps plugging the socket in the 400 / 600 w ballast ? Trying my best to avoid burning , breaking or electrocuting anything/anyone Cheers

Hiya OzStoners, How's tricks? I am currently looking at 150mm extraction fans primarily because I will be growing through summer again-bummer I know but hey, no meds and I'm pretty hampered in the ability to move my lower half of my body without the chronic pain of severe osteoarthritis. I've started this thread to discuss the best ways to utilize a LED panel to achieve the best results possible. so after my first grow, a single plant in a pc stealth box, moved to a 1.2m2 tent & 400w hps. Crawling is fun, but i'd rather run. I picked up a Seahawk tent of the above size, along with an appropriately sized and named Phat Filter, and a centri fan that resembles a jet engine. Hey guys, Im after some advice on a lighting / vent set up for my grow room. This will be my first grow. The grow room is approx 1.2m W, 1.5m D and 2.2m H. As everyone knows, electricity is a bitch here down under so looking to minimise electricity expenses while still reaching adequate yields. I'm looking to grow about 2oz a month for personal use without spending a crazy amount on the set up. Hey fellow stoners, So im starting to set up my first grow and am after as much info as possible pleas from others who know how. I've decided to go with led lights and have just spent a lot on a black dog led 450w light, is quite big in size and should be more than enough for my tent which is 1x1x2, will this be enough room and enough light for three to four plants? Hey Guys Bought a T5HO fluoro set up for my current vegging area. Was pointed in this direction from the my local hydroponic supplier. Once i had the unit set up I flicked on the bulbs only to notice they were purple. 8500k to be exact. I rang old mate back and he reckons there is nothing wrong with it. Is 8500k not good? Bulbs are 2ft and a quick google search indicated i'm going to have a hard time finding 6400k bulbs to suit. Is he talking absolute shit? I have a feeling old mate has no idea.
