i have a 400 watt HPS bulb and ballast combo. i got it from a friend, who had it rewired for some fucked up reason. there are three wires in the cord itself, red(which is disconnected), white and black. inside the ballast there are 3 or 4 wires that are not connected. the white and black wires are then attached to a two prong plug in. he said that the light worked in his dryer outlet. but i would like to rewire it RIGHT and get the full light.

Hi ozstoners, I have been growing for ages using 600 watt hps. A while ago I was given an 880 watt hps globe that runs off a 1000 watt mh ballast. The last few grows I have used the 600 as a veg lamp then switched up to the 880 globe to flower. I have always been under the impression (don't know how correct I am though) that hps was a better lamp for flowering due to the more orange light spectrum than mh. I am now wondering if it is worthwhile getting a 1000 watt mh light to flower with as I already have the ballast. Has anyone compared the results from the 880 hps side by side with a 1000 watt mh lamp? Also if I am running an 880 globe off a 1000 watt ballast is the b…

Hey all i have started my seedlings off under 3 18w CF inside a 25lt bucket with a little fan to move air around so it dont get too warm (i dident think CF got as hot as thay did) thay are only an inch tall just starting to kick on, so question is how many CF would i need to veg my babys to to the point were i put under my 400w hsp for budding (and were can i get those 48w CF i have been hearing about as thay would be the ones i would like to get)i was thinking if i had say 5-6 24w CF for two plants to veg under dose this sound ok because starting seedlings from scrach under my 400w sun-t is costing me too bloody much money in power.

I guess this one is probably for experienced growers who have experimented with different light sources, or those who read a lot.. I am wondering about using fluros in the veg cycle. Will they give me as much light as hps(400's)? or will the plants growth be slower with fluros? I believe the best fluros to use are the tri-phosphor, is this correct? Is there a combo of fluros you can use? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using both. I know i am asking for a lot of info but have always used fluro to seed/root or clone and then hps to veg and flower. I realise the fluros dont make as much heat and cost shitloads less to run but is this their only advantages? I found …

hi all, wondering if a 1000w bulb can be used in a nova shade .... i bought a secondhand 1000w bulb, ballast and the shade which is a "chinamans hat" as they guy called it but it kinda sux the bulb can only face downwards giving me alot less height and would prefer it going length ways. can i use a nova shade (i have one from my 400w) or what sort of shade can i use ? thnx

Just a few questions: What do ppl prefer vertical (eg chinabowl) or horizontal lamp (eg.lobay) and why? Any ideas on the dimensions of these lamps light coverage, is a vertical lamp a circular coverage and a horizontal lamp a more rectangular coverage if so what would be optimal for 400 (approx 8-10ftsq)or 600w (approx 10-12ftsq) son-t-agro (and is $205 a good price for a basic 600w son-t-agro light kit complete? source: nutriflo hydroponnics in Gosford NSW, and on the net) I am not sure about the strain but as a general rule of thumb what sort of distance would you put between two plants (minimum)? Thanks for all the indirect help from everybody that has contribut…

600w hps setup seems to cost more than 1000w hps setup. Why is this?

i finally bought my Son T aggro 400 watter a few days ago and plugged it in last night to test it. It didnt look strong at first but started to glow brighter and brighter and the globe turned orange. I was kinda worried it was gonna blow up or something, maybe it just looked bad coz i was stoned heh does that sound normal for one of those lights? i just wanna make sure before i set all up. also would they be too strong to germ under, its just that it will keep the seeds warm, the others i tried in water didnt germ probably due to the water getting cold i spose?

i was reading on a web page the other day about a new lamp that can flore plants under 18 hours of light on and 6 off. The lamp producers a certain spectrum of light that causes a hormone change in the plant, enabling the plant to flore for 18 hours straight per day Cutting flore time by almost half. Sounds like the shit -----> has anyone heard of such a product?

Nelson Lamps sell a 48W CF in cool and warm white for $23 through Bunnings - a few of these would be good to grow and flower under if you needed fluorescents. NB. the lamps arent listed on their site so check Bunnings.
