Bill Richardson the Govenor of New Mexico, the man that signed the bill allowing medpot there has dropped out of the race for president... I know It might not mean much to Aussies, but I felt that this man was our best hope of getting the whole matter of MJ settled. And I had hoped that if we finaly did something positive, then the rest of the world would take notice and listen... When he signed his states medical marijuna bill into law he exclaimed that it was the right thing to do. I feel cheated by his dropping out.

Source: www.news.com.au i feel sorry for the guy, but no stoner should ever step foot in bali and intend on scoring. you might as well just walk into the local cop shop and admit to killing a dozen people as the punishment would be less in the end

This is from the DPA (Drug Policy Alliance) I'm posting it because it should be kept in mind when drafting a similar medical marijuana bill. It seems to be something they over looked. And it is very important. California State Supreme Court Favors Employer in Medical Marijuana Employment Discrimination Case Friday, January 25, 2008 On January 24, the California Supreme Court ruled that an employer can fire a medical marijuana patient for a positive drug test, even if the patient is using medical marijuana legally under state law. The ruling did not affect California’s medical marijuana laws, but clarified that the laws do not cover employment discrimination. The…

More enlightening media from the UK. Be afraid - be very very afraid!!! Majority of teen psychosis cases used cannabis As many as 60 per cent of young people in east Kent suffering from their first episode of psychosis smoke or have a history of smoking cannabis. The new figures, provided by the NHS, reveal that in mental health patients aged 14 to 35, half had taken or were taking the drug. For younger service users, aged 14 to 25, the rate is 63 per cent. Karen White, medical director of Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust, said: “That gives you an idea of the relationship between its use and psychosis. “The youngest group th…

Seems Cannabis activist Marc Emery has cut a deal with Canadian authorities that would see him serve a 5 year prison term in a Canadian jail instead of a US prison, for pleading guilty to seed selling and money laundering charges in the US. His extradition hearing is scheduled for Jan 21 and he was 99% certain to be handed over to the US thugs. Like him or not, he has done more for Cannabis law reform than anyone else I can remember. He is a champion in my book http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/story.h...d89&k=19587

He said studies showed that cannabis-based drugs may be effective for diseases like Parkinson's, MS and migraine and could also help patients with Alzheimer's. TREASURER Wayne Swan yesterday spoke publicly for the first time about his failed first marriage and drug-taking in his younger days. Mr Swan, 53, said he had nothing to hide by previously being private about "challenging" chapters of his personal life. "There has been nothing secret about any of these events. They were very public at the time. Obviously people now find it interesting given my new job," he said in Brisbane yesterday. Mr Swan has been married for nearly 24 years to former political adviser Kim Williamson. They have three children. Yesterday he confirmed he had a brief marriage in the late 1970s that ended in divorce. He said the marriage to Toni Jens…

Source: www.news.com.au it sounds like a few pollies are coming out about their drug use when they were younger and are saying they are merely human and if they tried drugs its their business and theirs alone bloody double standard pricks, although hopefully if enough of them come out admitting drug use it will prove people can use without becoming total losers

From http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2008/0...lead-story.html Not sure if this has been posted yet, delete it if it has. -- February 27, 2008 11:35am Green thumb prunes cannabis into hedge Tony Wilson 27Feb08 IT looked like an average Nerang back yard with an above-ground pool and neatly trimmed hedges. But a closer look at the shrubbery revealed they were actually cannabis plants and that put a new twist on the expression 'cultivating drugs'. Nerang officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Gary Symons said police yesterday removed 30 healthy and mature plants, some more than 2m tall, with a street value of more than $100,000. The plants, trimmed an…

The only reason I posted this is for the last sentence. I found it on http://abc.net.au/news I would imagine that every single grower, bar none, would prefer to sacrifice their crop if it meant that they didnt get caught. What a stupid comment.

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5013404,00.html from theaustralian. The only reason I've posted this is to draw your attention to the bullshit reporting. The article clearly tries to link violence, suicide and mental illness with cannabis (or ganja and grog coz we are talking about aboriginals; can't call it cannabis and alcohol=racist language) I have a feeling that if you took away cannabis and just left the alcohol the problems would remain. Hands up who feels homicidal after a few cones? No one. Reading this kind of shit really pisses me off.
