General Cultivation Q&A

I have been having major problems with my plants lately. Curling leaves, yellow veins, purpling of leaves and stems, then I realised it all started when I had to buy an unfamiliar nutrient. It is by Growth Technology and is called Optimum. Ok, really noobish question really, and im sure its been asked before, but can pot be grown in a container like an indoor pot plant? that is without all the expensive lighting etc? Any helpful replies would be much appreciated.

If I was to construct a NFT system with round pipe so that in effect I was doing DFT (deep flow technique), I would have to run the nutes at a lower rate than what I am now through the clay balls wouldn't I? what EC - ballpark? Has anyone tried DFT? I've read that you should fill the round 6"pipes to around 40% before they hit the drain - does that sound correct? At around 1-2lt/min I think... And the pots sit lower when the clones are young, higher as they grow longer roots, so should this be timed with the switch of lights? I know that whatever level the waterline is established at must be consistently maintained to ensure you don't drown the oxygen grabbing roots but …

Ok, I finally worked out the way I'm going forward with this grow, and seeing as I've committed my limited resources already toward it, it is what I will be doing. No turing back now, the goodies are bought. I want to do something completely different in the long run, but for this grow, I'm going to utilise the odd shape area I have thus- 1400mmx800 x about 8 feet tall. !k watts HPS, with a adjusta shade that's almost exactly thelength and width of my grow space.Perfect.
