Interesting article in USA Today

Interesting times when 'big media' starts releasing stories like these. I'll kick off with a summary. The full article follows, and is fairly wide-ranging. Summary: "Politicians are finally catching up with the American public" Some good statistics here: A Gallup Poll last October found 44% of Americans favor making marijuana legal (as in outright legal for recreational use), an eight-point jump since the question was asked in 2005. An ABC News-Washington Post poll in January found 81% favor making marijuana legal for medical use. Try to find another political issue with that level of support. Also, * California considering outright legalization of cannabis, …

Hey Guys, So I wrote a 1000+ word letter to Mr Rudd a couple of days ago regarding the correlation between the War on Drugs and Environmental Sustainability/Climate Change Action, and I was wondering whether anyone who has previously written to the PM would be able to give me an idea of the quality of his response, the time he took to make it, his attitude, or even if he bothered to respond.

Hemp farming in sydneys backyard RICHARD FRIAR loves growing dope. His backyard on the northern beaches is full of the stuff - 500 plants, to be precise. But Mr Friar is no dealer, and this is no under ground plantation. The 66-year-old and his wife, Wendy, are proud owners of australias first licensed industrial hemp crop to be grown in an urban area. "I'd prefer you didn't publish exactly where we are," he says. "Even though this is no good for smoking, you can imagine what would happen if people found out. " The Friars are hemp evangelelists; firm believers in the world-changing potential of this most versatile of plants, which can be used for everything from…

Vaporisating IS NOT SAFE!
by Budstedpothead- 9 replies

Allright as you all know, Vaping is considered to be safer than incineration right? and when vaping only 2 carcinogens are present. Well NCPIC says that's not true! they claimed that there are high ammounts of Ammonia in vaporised plant material particularly Cannabis. Well.... I'd just like to clear things up. 1. Ammonia is not a Carcinogen 2. (something i have known for years) Ammonia is also a natural byproduct of your bloodstream 3. Small ammounts of Ammonia are not harmful it's poisonous true, but only in large ammounts 4. There are not large ammounts of Ammonia in Cannabis vapour otherwise it would have the unmistakeable cat piss scent. MYTH BUDSTED sources? …

Extract from where i found the article link: Basically, scientists have been toying around with identifying people by phenotype for quite a while, the rapid DNA analysis of Gattaca. What this man has done is taken a process that typically costs about $1000 to make a chip the size of a postage stamp that can tell 1000 phenotypic traits, and turned it into a $.01 chip for identifying diseases such as HIV and hepatitis. His rational is that by doing so he will help better the diagnosis and care of poorer parts of the world. A good rational, but his technology also opens up the possibility of rapid identification by DNA and the discrimination it brings. We're not just talki…

I all I just read: Driver Drug Tests-Your PERSONAL experiences? I skim read so I don't know if i missed anything, so sorry if im asking what has already been dealth with If one is an weekend smoker how long will it take before you can safely drive without getting a reading? I'm from SA and the SA police website says that the test will only result in a positive if you have smoked in the last few hours but could last longer depending on metabolism, use, etc. If marijuana stays in your system for up to 30 days is there any chance one can still get caught, even though they are abiding by the rules? Is there any way you can prove you smoked 2 days ago? There is no wa…

In March 1999 a man living in Kandos (near Mudgee in NSW, Australia ) received a bill for his as yet unused gas line stating that he owed $0.00. He ignored it and threw it away. In April he received another bill and threw that one away too. The following month the gas company sent him a very nasty note stating that they were going to cancel his gas line if he didn't send them $0.00 by return mail. He called them, talked to them, and they said it was a computer error and they would take care of it. The following month he decided that it was about time that he tried out the troublesome gas line figuring that if there was usage on the account it woul…

can you see a pattern . ( or maybe cannabis has turned me into a paranoid scitzo ) cotton a less superior fibre then hemp . with a lot less uses . Ruins the soil were it grows and does terrible things to the water in surrounding creeks and rivers . without an abundance of chemicals will not grow very well . hemp used for thousands of years with many uses outnumbering cotton . grows well without the use of chemicals or herbicides leaves the soil in better condition then before it was planted and has no negative effect on the land or water surrounding it . CHEMICAL companies supply billions of dollars worth of dangerous cancer causing substances to cotton fa…

Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. It was here, amidst this digital renaissance, that OZ Stoners planted its foundational roots. This marked the dawn of a space that would go on to become synonymous with Australian cannabis culture.
Navigating the Digital Tempests
On its journey, OZ Stoners faced formidable challenges. Between Yahoo's unpredictability and the unexpected anti-cannabis stance of titans like Meta, steering the ship required a blend of adaptability, tenacity, and foresight.
A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
