HELP PLEASE

I'm afraid that I know the answer to this question but I'm not sure... Are these growing wrong?? I mean they are growing very tall, very fast, but are skinny, skimpy, and very thin and delicate. When should I start the lights on plants and how much. I'm really only wanting to do 2 or 3 plants with 2 stems per plant. I'm very new to this... I just really need to know about the light cause I think that is my problem. Do they need light through the whole germination, if so what kind of light. If not then when Is light needed? Need lots of help... thanks so much.

Before they emerge, and as much as you can give them. Both intensity and duration are important.

Absolutely imperitive from the time sprout breaks thru medium.

The sun is the best, but anything that vaguely resembles a similar spectrum range will suffice. Read the numerous threads on this subject.

The sooner you get them some light the better.

 

For your reference next time, leaves are there to collect light, as soon as you have leaves you need light.

they have stretched in order to get to the lighting , lowerit allot for the next bunch and I would even attempt to train them now as they are , bending the stems sideways and having light on the stem should help you develop some lower nodes BUT YOU MUST LOWER YOUR LIGHT

if ya have any probs with them bending cause they too long you can support them by cutting a straw to size and split it down the middle then clip around the stem for support. I read this in a forum but cant remember where but i have used it b4 and it works great.

Or you can re-pot them with a new soil level anywhere up to the 'rounded' drip leaves. (cotyledons) All of the length below the drip leaves is able to root, so the renewed soil level gently supporting the stretch, is a good way to go.

the one major factor for mass stem growth like that for me has been lack of air movement...

 

you really need to lower the light and get a fan blowing on them...sure they might fall over and u would have to tie them up but it'll help them produce nice strong thick stems :smoke
