Medical Access

Question

A couple of months ago I asked my GP about obtaining cannabis to treat my ongoing symptoms.

"Ohh ahhh, I don't know anything about the processes, I wouldn't know where to start..."

Being that I'm in SA and there being no clinic's here (our state Gov't (Liberal) still have their heads buried firmly up their own arses)  I thought the whole process would be a waste of time

I went investigating and found a clinic in NSW, who would go through the whole process online.

So after a couple of weeks of paperwork both from myself and my GP, today I got the call from the clinic and have had the initial approval.

I now have to obtain the approval from the TGA but from what I've been told this should not be a problem and should take less than a week.

The Dr I spoke to has told me that what he would be prescribing is a CBD and THC combination as my situation is pain related.

I asked the Dr about the cost of the medication itself as it is NOT on the PBS and I have to say it is NOT cheap.

The Dr himself would not actually tell me a defined cost but advised me to call the chemist in Victoria.

Upon doing so I was told $270/50ml + postage ($30), so $300 delivered. First thought "Fuck, it'd be cheaper to go buy an ounce" but have decided to follow through with the process.

At this point I have not been told of the recommended dosages, so how long that 50ml is going to last I am unsure.

I am also unsure if I may be able to get my local chemist to get it in for me or whether it needs to come from an approved compounding chemist, solely in Victoria.

So the processes have been started. The dr and the prepaid TGA approvals have cost me $550 so far (that's without the script itself), so let's see how much more it's gonna cost

When I have any further info I will let you all know.

Just thought others maybe interested

Hi crew,It's been awhile that I post here.Hers is the latest.

I have been with out any cannabis medication for a few months now due to not being able to keep my last appointment with my canna doctor in December last year due to illness.

This morning I had an appointment with my canna doctor an had a good talk about how things are going for me.I told him things have turned to shit from no canna meds for the last few months.

After a good talk he has given me new script for Tilray 10-10/ 40ml. an has sent of a request to the TGA for cannabis heads for faster pain relief as it takes awhile for the trilray 10-10 to kick in an help with my pain & migraines. He has recommended that I get a vape so I can use the Cannabis heads. He was trying to get me to get a new vaporizer that they recommend an told him I all ready have a volcano vape lol ,He did not know what I was talking about lol .This volcano is about 15 years old now ,So it's time for an upgrade to a new volcano  :twiddle: .

I will wait till I get the TGA approu before I get the new volcano.

Well that's me done for now .All the best to you all an keep up the good fight against your illness.

Oh an a hellow to you Merlin all the best to you mate an ya good lady.

Regards,Dingo-2008.

Hey Dingo,

It's been a while mate. Howzit all goin in your neck of the woods? I'm no longer using the oil, only flos (flower). This one I'm using is called Bedrocan with 22%THC and less than 1%CBD. I've lost track of my reviews, but I must almost be due for a review so I'm gonna ask about a 50/50 THC vs CBD, let's see what they have to say.. The mrs is doing OK, we were sposed to be going over to see her daughter in the UK or Turkey but all this COVID bullshit put a stop to that as both of those countries have had a HUGE rise in cases. I doubt it will happen at all now, so she's not real happy about that, but we cant do SFA about it all, so 'Suck it up princess' SLAP lol lol lol

Hey Anoma,

Some medical canna dr's do recommend the use of a vape because, medically speaking, smoking is a big no, no. But I told them I do have a vape, which I do, I just never use it, and they have had no issue in writing the scripts and I just smok'em in a pipe. They don't know no different.

Now, I know that 'some' medical devices can be claimed via medicare and some can be claimed against your tax. Whether that 'some' could include a vape, I doubt, but it certainly be worth asking your tax man if you could claim it as 'Medical equipment'. If you don't ask, you don't know IMHO. I have an accountant who use to do my tax when I was working and he knew all the little loop holes, he'd claim EVERYTHING he possibly could for me.
