having a look at the 3 surveys quoted in that link:

 

1. Climate of the nation surveyed 1,756 Australians.

2. The second link did not take me to that survey.

3. the Lowy poll surveyed 1,200 Australians.

 

I am no statistician, but fucked if a few thousand people represent the population. 

 

Anyone that signs up or agrees to those phone and online surveys is a fucken numpty, so we have the views of the majority of Australia's numpty population.
