Tomato leaf spray aphids

I've always used dish soap in water,but I'm hearing tomato leaves crushed in water sprayed on plants kills aphids and other pests like you set them on fire,and its safe to use on food plants,I've treated this small infestation today,anyone use this?

Hi mcbuddin ,i was only reading about the tomato leaf spray a few days ago myself I had a aphid break out late last season nothing to major and they seemed to only be on the leaves not the buds so I just removed the majority by hand and continued through to harvest with no probs but I'm going to have a go at the tomato leaf spray as a preventive this year and see if it works, can't hurt to give it ago,,GQ

Well it killed all the aphids on the leaf I had affected in hours, I whizzed up some leaves with a ninga bullet strained through a coffee filter and fine misted the Kent's and no I'll affects,I'm thinking this could be great for stem scale too .

Still have aphids, though only few scattered on the one plant,it kills them but not as effectively as it seemed ,I'll be honest at this early stage in the past I have given plants a hit of the old pea beau and the only affect was I didn't see any pests again .
