Avoid Cheap Ballasts

Nici i would imagine its all similar resin the idea of the resin is to protect the board from corrosion as u mentioned, i think some are clear others are black just the black coloured resin would be cheaper than adding a UV blocker to the resin to stop the resin breaking down if light shines into the ballast

 

i just bought a cheap shit ballast if it fuck's up i will pull it apart and post pictures here if i can remember

so its not just the lamp, and its not just the leads, it makes your whole house broadcast IE your whole house becomes an antenna.

 

the Cultiv8 600w dimmable ballast has rf filters on it, worth a look at it.

 

plus UVB is actually good for resin production as far as ive heard.

 

I originally looked at nanolux, then was put off by it after reading the issues with the RF broadcasting, if someone was to walk past your house with a spectrometer and it was a match... your fucked

 

I stay the fuck away from cheap ballasts... too many houses burn down.

i wonder if CMH ballast put of RF interference? iv asked else where but didnt get a reply!

iv also read elsewhere that CMH ballast do not put of any RF signals? im running a nanolux CMH and a hi-par CMH, curious if there putting of any RF signals?

Speaking from my day job observations, the PCBs in most types of high end electronic equipment that are used in a wet or corrosive environment have a clear resin on them and terminals so that if there was moisture that got in you can see any corrosion.

 

i would be very surprised if the more expensive ballasts are much different inside... they likely all come from the same place in china anyway !
