Wanting to Grow - Advice appreciated.

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm a new,old member here. Few years back i used to visit the forums daily. However, as we all know, life has an interesting sense of humor and likes to throw a curve ball or two and what was a passion to grow a beautiful plant, was forced away.

Anyhoo, enough of that nonsense. To the point!

I want to try start up again, 4 or 5 plants. Personal use. I've still got a bunch of old genetics ( hopefully they're still good) . Think there's a couple Diesel Ryders, Grape Fruit, maybe a White Rhino and some other GHS genetics ... you get the point.  I'm posting to hopefully get a kick up the arse and just go for it. However i'm irrationally paranoid, anxiety's a bitch right? haha. My questions revolving around this are....

Does anyone order their grow gear online?

If so, do you care about purchasing it all in one go, or is that a red flag? ( What i mean by this is. If one were to buy a 600 HPS, 600MH, hood, panda film, exhaust fan, ducting.  All the general stuff one would need for an indoor grow.  I know all of this gear is not purely made for the growth of cannabis and is not illegal. Just... yea...

Apologies for the dribble and what would seem like nonsense to most. :)

Thanks in advance.

I would be wary of ebay, particularly if you are using your grow address. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don't have a safe addy. I avoid ebay.

I live over 300km from hydro store so have to buy online.

I've been using ADHS (advanced horticulture systems) for quite some time. They do have ebay store but place order direct via sales@adhs.com.au. Can deposit cash direct to their bank acct.

Welcome back.

Over the years i have ordered many things in regard to growing from ebay and never had a issue.

But there are others that have had issues.

If you have a shop near buy you can get all ya gear most placers dont give a shit what u are using the gear for they just want to sell you what u want and a load of shit u dont want or need.

Most of my gear i am using is through ebay over the years, it the same with most ebay sellers, they just want the sale, with ebay dont put ya eggs all in one barsket spread out what u want, if in no grate rush take a lil time getting what u want, buying off ebay is ok just play smart, but if that a issue drive all over town to hydro shops buying what u want using cash only...

I've also done business with ADHS several times, both through ebay and direct, and I'll give them a big thumbs up  just like ange.

But I've also shopped with several ebay traders with no problems.  But as Ozzy says, don't go doing it all in one order, just to be on the safe side.  On top of this, if you shop around on ebay you'll find that some things are well priced with one seller, but other things are not, so shop around.

Few hints:

  • Avoid Growlush gear, especially if it's electrical or important.  And be aware that many of the unbranded products on ebay are Growlush, some sellers know that it's shit.  The good stuff pays for itself in the long run, well and truly.
  • If you are doing a large scale purchase, it's worth the extra cost of driving to a real shop and paying cash, just to be on the safe side.  I try to fit it into other trips where possible as my closest is 300km away.
  • Check the location of any online seller, inc ebay, if they are in SA avoid them like the plague as it's my understanding that they have to follow some funny laws in South OZ (might be wrong?)
  • Plan thoroughly before purchase if you want to be careful with your money.
  • And remember that outside of the specialised stuff, you can get a lot of shit for your setup from Bummings.  Stock up on duct tape and cable ties.

Most importantly, stay safe and have fun :peace:
