Light Burn Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello Stoners,

Due to some unforeseen complications, my plants were kept in veg for a lot longer than planned, resulting in them getting far bigger than I wanted, so now of course I've run out of room height and more or less width wise.

The white widow has suffered extensive light burn up the top, the leaves and main cola have turned crisp and yellow.

What I'm wanting to know is if this is a serious risk to the rest of the plants health/other plants around it.

I'm aware having the lights too close is running risk of heat stress/mold.

If anyone has found themselves in a similar position I'd appreciate some advice.

Here are a couple of pics, not of great quality though unfortunately.

Although risky your best bet would likely be tying her down.  I'd recommend being very gentle and pulling her down until she fights back a little and feels snug, wait a day or two for her to adjust and then repeating as needed.  If for some reason you can't do that I'd just cut off all the areas that will get burned now because the other stuff will yield more for it in the long run and it will also save you a lot of heartache down the road too.

Like Weeping Angel said try the girl down an cut the burnt part off,an even if the lat's do break as long as they don't break off the stem will heal,an that is called knuckling the stems.Other people will call it different names to knuckling.

You can even just squeeze the stem to make it bend & the stem will heal up with in a few days time.

The cannabis plant is a tuff  fucker an takes a bit to killer her so don't be frighten   to bend her over.lol

Thanks for the quick replies fellers, I appreciate the good advice.

I think my best option would be to cut out the burnt areas at this stage, my main concern with this though is, being it the main cola, will this stunt/stop the progress of the plant? I vaguely remember reading an article a long time ago along these lines?

u are aware that indoor grow lights only penetrate so far??

growing trees without  adequate lighting is only gunna end in tears

imo those plants are way to tall for indoor environment

the lower growth is just gunna yield light fluffy popcorn buds that have stretched for light

id be spreading the biggest and most vigourous out

tying her down a li bit a day

that will allow the light to get in deeper into your canopy

resulting in fatter heavier more compact buds over the whole plant

id also be removing some of that lower sucker growth, depending where i am in flower

personally i dont removing the lower growth any later tha about 3 weeks of 12 12

if u vege too long again id suggest pruning the plant back before switching to flower

all the best and hope u find some resolve how ever u work it

Yeah I'm aware of all those things Mastertig, believe me this is not the position I wanted to end up in.

I'm just going to strap myself in and see how this one turns out, the other plants I have been tying down/knuckling since the beginning of flower so I'm making the most I can of the light.

Surprisingly the White Widow's lower buds seem to be fattening up nicely even though they are a long way from the light.

I'll post pics at the end of the grow and let you know how I get on, no sense quitting now.
