Underground cooling for growrooms

Recommended Posts

Heya all just doing a bit of trawling on the web and came across idea's and plans for extracting / filtering air from underground and/or though a 'Thermal Labyrinth'

to cool it.

There is this awesome PDF file that someone has done up http://www.inive.org/members_area/medias/pdf/Inive%5CPalencAIVC2007%5CVolume1%5CPalencAIVC2007_109.pdf

And also Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-coupled_heat_exchanger

There are a few pro's and con's, but the major con is the moisture build up that can lead to mould and mildew, so you have to have an active (dehumidifier) or passive (desiccant) systems that can treat the air stream.

Would this work for some members to help with heat issues? - it does involve being able to digging a fairly large / deep hole, but it could be better in the long run then using air conditioning or other traditional cooling methods.
