Grafting Cannabis

Has anyone tried grafting cannabis? For a graft to be successful, the graft (scion) has to be grafted to a rootstock of a species within the same family. A quick look on Wikipedia tells me there are about 170 species in the Cannabaceae family. Some of them, like cannabis and hops, are annuals. But some, like Celtis, are perennials.

 

Now my thinking is that if you grafted to a perennial rootstock, then maybe the scion would also become a perennial? Anyone know for sure? If that was the case, that would be pretty sweet, a perennial cannabis plant.

Even if you could do it, grafting wouldn't make the scion take on the properties of the rootstock.

Cool idea, but I agree with Naycha. 

Grafting can change the rate of growth but it wouldn't have the capacity to change an annual to a perennial. I'm not sure anything could do that...

Try it, nobody has sucessfully grafted Cannabis to even Hops which is the closest. Grafting Cannabis to Cannabis....... now thats another story...........
