you can do a similar setup by just using a plastic sheet on the ground going to a buried tank. cover plastic sheet with branches to hide. alot less stuff to carry to your plot but nothing beats a sophisticated setup

crowsrange--every year is different best time to get started is winter to catch the spring/sept rains Ive found with 3 x 200l tanks full by grow time the summer intermittent rains keep the levels nicely topped up..

 

 

whitey 79 -- yep the ol black plastic or tarp does good I just find it cleaner and more versatile for my style I like to do a bit of outdoor hydro with teas and organic nutes also with tanks a bit higher than the plot I can run gravity fed irrigation...cheers grow hard 2013/14!..

that it is a pain in the arse getting the water out the tank when buried but only use it if the creek dries up, so i can deal with it. i just figure the added leaves and shit i get in there adds a touch of organic nutes to it as it ages and matures. never ec 'd or ph'd the water may do it and see. be your best bet thou to keep the water as clean as possible if adding hydro nutes. growing hard 2013/14
