a few days ago ph was 5.5 in the tank, but 7 run off..... so i started flushing, no change, started flushing at 4.5 still no drop, plants were turning yellow in the new growth and one or two tips went funny shaped, turns out my new ph meter was out readiung 8.xxx in the 7 buffer fluid, got home and dropped the tank, redid everything and run off was at 6, its now at 5.8-6 and 5.5 in the tank, however plants seem to be growing slowly and the yellowing still remains, the edge tips are curling slightly and some are a little brown, unsure if this has since improved, however my question is they colouring, can someone study the pic and let me know what you think. thanks
more info, the light is inside of a cool tube and the light is around 8-10 inches above the canopy temps are between 22 at night and 30 with lights on, it is only at 30 degrees when the exhaust fan kicks off to increase the rooms rh

Plants with yellow new growth is telling me they want more food, more the concern here is the leaf margins quite cold in there?

you do have a back up Ph meter ....just to double check??? if not use pool strips, a very rough tool, but better than nothing when nothing is a cheap unfamiliar  Ph meter

Hey Rooster,

Personally, I wouldn't be too worried about the lime green new growth, its normal. The plants are still young and I find in grow cycle the colour is commonly pale on new growth. Once these shoots mature a bit they become darker. As for your pH, I'm not a great fan of meters, low batteries, uncalibrated etc can give ya all sorts of readings, I use a $10 drop tester in a test tube, If I don't like the reading I retest to check but with a meter the retest is using the same equipment, which if faulty, will still give you a false reading.

A concern I do have is your tubing. Being clear tube this will allow the light to get to your nutes, which in turn will allow algae to bloom. This can alter pH. Algae can also allow other parasites and bacteria to flourish. Hence the reason that the pots are black, your resi should be black and so should you tubing. Your roots don't like light and although, presently, the plants aren't big enough for the roots to be growing into the tubing, when they are, this will stress your plant. You could use common black plastic poly pipe but this is easily kinked, restricting flow. The tubing I use has a mix of plastic and rubber, this allows it to flex without kinking.

Hope it helps
