starting again

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I'm going to start growing indoors again after a long break and am looking for some opinions on the

CFL lamps. I have a good little space to convert (1800mm h 1600mm w 650mm d) and was thinking of using 130w CFL's as its a small area. Im just gonna start with two plants to get my greenfingers green again.

Any advise welcome.

A couple of 130w CFL might be okay for vegetative growth... but that space will need more than that to light it up for flower. The calculator (under the cannaversity tab at the top of the page) says... The optimum recommended lighting for your area is 448 watts.

Seeing as you have the height, you could whack a 400W hps in the middle of that and grow a couple of plants under it... the far corners wont be getting much light, but if you are only looking to grow 2, you wont be needing the far corners lit up.

Just a thought...

this is the best CFL (for vegging) it has lower wats then the cheap 130w and 250w but produces more light

lol Pretty sure it doesn't produce more light than the 250w cfl.

Definitely go with a hps if you can yNg ,it will make a huge difference.

No need to go with metal halide anymore... many hps lamps come with added blue spectrum so you can vegetate as well as flower under the same light. The particular lamp I would suggest you seek out is the 400W Philips Son-T-Agro.

I usually start my seedlings under a pair of 48W cfl, darn side cheaper that having seedlings under hps... unless it's cold... if it's cold I start them in the tent under hps (400w) works out cheaper than running heating and cfl.
