Hi all,

Now i know this has been touched on a couple of times but anyone have first hand experience with Plasma lights? Yes I know the led/hps/hid argument, but is it time for a plasma experiment? Liking the idea of a dual spectrum for a small tent, any input?

Cheers all

Heya Nici, do you have any links to dual spectrum plasma lamps? I am a big fan of Plasma, i think its a much better option and more future to it than LED's but last time I was looking, they were saying they still needed to be supplimented with a HPS to get a decent yield. If theres been any change, would sure love to know........

Peace. Nibbler.

And price? Last time I looked, which was a while ago admittedly, they were big $$$$$. For the price I cud do 7-8 grows HPS and pay for the power.

Edit: Shit, Ive just had another look and the prices have dropped hugely, like 160-170% drop from my last enquiry. Maybe worth another look.

Hey Nibbler

TBH Ive just started look at them. LG has a really nice one (730W $970+shipping) but it's only single spectrum atm. Im chatting with another supplier who claims they have a 2700K and 6500K in the one light so..... still early days but am considering giving a 200W a go (just got an led test first).

Hmm wow never really looked to much in to plasma lights. There seem to be two major companies.

HEP high effecitancy plasma put out 90 - 140 lum per watt. Sound nice.

Edit.... Not to sure if you dude are cool with other sites. But here is a grow diary using lep. It's a good dairy.

Luxim seems to be the best info site.

Would be good to have some brains about light on this subject.

As from http://www.luxim.com/technology/features/quality-of-light

Looks like it has a full spectrum.

I wrote to gavita today to find out more details.

Light spread is 3x3 ft at 1ft away from light. 6x6 at 2ft away from light.

Luma diminish after 3ft. But only diminish by 25 % not 50% like normal.

Bulbs life - if run for 14 hours a day 365 days a year. Get 6 years bulb life.

Bulbs run cooler. Plant can be as close to bulb as a 600 HPS run with a cool tube.

In built reflector can be changed with new one. As it is only a slip in insert.

5700k at 600 setting. Ballast can be dimmed from 600 - 1150. Uses 288 watt at 600 setting. 50% power saving.

Avablie in aus from Vic.

Sounds all goods.

Send me some more info and I am keen to buy one or two. Oo what's the price for one.

Price 1299$ US.

Ooo wow hmmm ok.
