Most probably an "explanation" might be.

Our lights draw 210 watts but the output of our lights are equal to 400watts of your lights?

The snake oil means of "measurement of power output versus consumption also used for audio amplifiers these days.

A 1000watt RMS amplifier that draws 130 watts of AC!! Lots of those about.

You CAN fool most of the people most of the time.

heya Tracey , think what your refering to is P.M.P.O, or peak music power output......its what dodgy companies use instead of R.M.S. , which is the root mean squared amount of wattage and a much more acurate measurement of speaker output power.

PMPO is actually the peak amount of power all the combined speakers can handle in one split second. RMS wattage means it can punch that out 24/7.

Back to lighting......yeah the LED manufacturers claim they are "equivilent" to a 400w HID etc.....but they rarely even get close.

Its tricky because LED's are measured in PAR and HIDS usually measured in Lumens. Also we see a lot of the HID's spectrum, being visable light but LED's spectrum, some is not visable to the naked eye or very low level is, so they appear less powerful.....when in fact , all the plant wants is usable light, some of which we can't see.

I have done a LOT of reading on lighting but Wazzup is the Wizard of Lighting.....maybe he'll pop past =) . peace. Nibbler.

Hi Hash Nibbler.

Off topic-ish but I understand peak to peak and various other descriptions of power output.

My bug is that these amplifier manufacturers do quote RMS as the rated output!!!

Now have you or has anyone heard of a site called "Bubbleponics"?

Within that site are a multitude of posters showing both pics and diaries using, so they say, Leds?

Is anything known about this site, please?

There are some very remarkable grows going on..However photos can fib I guess.??

Maybe we should stop comparing HID/HPS to LED as it seems the one thing EVERYBODY agrees on is the fact they are completely different! Yeah its always nice to have those rock hard nugs, but if LED nugs have a different high then maybe it could be a reasonable trade off?? Only time will tel I guess

does anyone know know GrowCraft ( www.growcraftdirect.com )? I think theyre from australia as their company name has Pty Ltd... anyway, hope there not scam cos i just got one of those reflector LEDs.

Sorry to disappoint you mate but I stopped reading once I found this:

Latest X2 Lens -

This technology provides 25% or more lighting efficiency when compared to other LED grow light products.

25% is a generous claim for a product with very little proof (in comparison to HID, CFL grow proof), and they even are brazen enough to claim "...or more".

This does not instill confidence in me and makes me want clarification of their claims. I can't find that and their lack of video examples on their website leads me to believe that they don't believe in their product and are probably just on-selling products because they believe this is the latest best way to make money.

You're are better off, in the future, reading up on the grow diaries and dropping in to the chat room for a while and asking around what the best equipment for your needs is, that way you don't pay more for things than youneed to.

Good luck with the grow, from what I've seen LED's can grow cannabis somewhat, i suppose it all depends on what you're happy with

This isn't an anti-LED rant, I just don't like seeing marketing tactics like this unless I'm making money from them :)

very easy....while LED and CFL will grow buds and im sure good ones a that, the light intensity is not as high as a HID light.

No LED grower has growen with HID because the only reason they are using LED is to save money on electricty, which is cool :)

and if u are an LED grower who has also growen with HID post ya pics so we can compare.....the pics of LED grows i have seen have been comaprable to CFL. And aint matter how much fuckin scientific info yas throw at as untill i see pics i believe nothing.....as the saying goes SEEING IS BELIEVING

so YES LED and CFL will grow ya buds but if ya smoke an ounce a week or even half of that HID all the way for time vs money

As H-Nibbler suggested, get some decent genes and you know atleast you have got something that will get you wrecked and yield well. Proven buds. Then get a diary happening and we will be more than willing to guide you through it.

While i believe decent genes have alot to do with yield, if ya using a CFL or a LED ya still gona yield fuck all compared to a HID, even 10, 40 watt CFLs aint gona get anywere near a 400watt HID and that doesnt matter what strain ya using
