20yr old seeds

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

This coming season i have the change to grow some 20 year old seeds from when a family friend used to grow, he has kept them in a box so hopefully they are still viable? I was wondering if it would be worth cloning if they germinate and grow well, might be able to get some seeds from them and have some old genetics they are Skunk and Northern Lights mainly.

What are the chances of them still being viable after 20 years in a box?? Also do you think the clones will last over winter if left in a greenhouse if i can't get seeds from them??

Cheers!

Hey mate..try them out. If they grow it's a bonus...if not well...!!! I've got seeds in the freezer dating back to the mid '80's but that's stored frozen.

As for clones you'll need to supplement the light during winter. The plants flower in response to the decreasing light period. You would be beter off if you put them in a cupboard under CFL's 'til spring hits.

Good luck....make seeds off them as well as cloning. Then store the remainder in the fridge or freezer.
