femminized seeds

i recently got about 200 seeds from a mate which are said to be of good strain. i want to find the best mother, but dont have space for sexing 200 plants. Is there some sort of chemical i can soak them in to kill the males?

Not that I know of. You can easily sex 200 plants, cos when they're young, they don't take up that much room. Pretty much just a matter of making sure they have plenty of light and don't shade each other out, and turning down the photoperiod as soon as it's gotten to about 2 or three sets of leaves... You could do it on 12/12 from the beginning, but you may not get as noticeable a response from the plants... Anyway, yeah, they'll quickly show preflowers, and you can pick and choose from them, and when you know who's a boy and who's not you can discard or segregate the boys... Still, your circumstances will truly dictate how much you'll be able to plant... how much space do you have?

 

How many were you looking at growing? Whatever number of plants you want to end up with, as productive females, then you should multiply that by 4 to get how many seeds you'll need to plant. Of course the less seeds you plant the further from the true relationship within that strain of male to female or hermi, so you may luck out and get all great girls, but you could also plant 40 seeds and get 40 boys. Bloody close to impossible, but it can happen. It's a statistics thing. So yeah, plant out as many as your room will allow and you should be able to detect sex quickly by using photoperiod drop early.

There is a chemical called eliteXelite that will show all the males , hermies and fems from a young age (not seeds but young plants without interrupting photoperiod), or thats what I think it does, don't really know 100%, do a search for eliteXelite and you'll find out. I'm sure it would cost a mint.

I would just pick out ten or so of the best looking seeds and go with them, if the seeds are a good strain then you should still get a good mother plant.
