W.A. Hemp on the Way

Legislation to allow the growing of industrial grade hemp in Western Australia is in the final drafting stage, ready to be introduced to Parliament.

A spokesman for Agriculture Minister Kim Chance says the draft legislation is with Cabinet, awaiting approval to be introduced to Parliament.

He says introducing the legislation was a pre-election promise by the Gallop Government.

The Avon Zone of the WA Farmers Federation recently called for passage of the legislation to open up new opportunities for wheatbelt farmers.
