Death by Prohibition

A Brisbane court has heard a man involved in a Sunshine Coast marijuana crop was shot dead after disputes with his business partner.

Wayne David Carmody and another man, Brett Edward Blatch, have pleaded not guilty to murder.

Peter Joseph Davies from the Glasshouse Mountains was shot in the head outside his home.

The court heard Carmody and Mr Davies had a marijuana crop on the Sunshine Coast and argued leading up to the shooting about possibly involving Blatch in the enterprise.

The prosecution said Mr Davies did not want any association with Blatch because he was a prisoner at large.

The prosecution also said that while it did not know exactly which role the men played in Mr Davies' death, they had spurred each other on in hatching a plan to either kill or seriously injure him.

The trial is expected to continue into next week.
