Mini Greenhouse

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've purchased a mini greenhouse similar to the one seen on this page. It is basically a plastic dome with some drainage at the bottom, and airholes at the top.

The only thing is, I don't know how to use it for my seedlings without creating an oven and baking them! Do I put them directly in the sun, for as long as possible every day? Do I only put them in the shade? How fast would it dry out in the sun?

Has anyone used one of these before to give me some tips... I'm planting in Jiffy Pots.

Thanks

Hey mate, I've got a mini greenhouse I use for starting veggie seedlings in, but have use it for weed in the past. They are not really that good I believe, depending on where you are. Any time you get a sunny day and the temps over about 16 degrees it still cooks in there and pots dry out real quick especially seedling size pots. Cutting extra holes in the plastic for airflow will definitely help, and keep the front door rolled up for extra airflow.

Oops, I should have looked at the pic first! :wallbash: Ive also got one of them and same story, they cook when in direct sun. I use mine inside under a fluoro for starting my plants. Other than that if outside I'd be putting in a mostly shaded spot until the seedlings emerge then you'd probably have to transplant them to a bigger pot and under some other type of protection until they're bigger. They'll just wilt if left in that in the sun. :(
