white grub - help

Recommended Posts

Heya everyone. :D

I've just emptied my 3 year old pot of hops out to divide up - and found about 40 of these suckers.

Think they could be white curl grubs - they look like they live pretty close to the roots.

Has anyone got a name of a pesticide I can use on my plants living in pots to get rid of these buggers?

Plants are: khat, pistacio, blueberry, raspberry, batswing coral tree, phalaris grass, strawberry guava

Also called a cockchafer, if you are looking for a non poisonous solution -

few drops of tea tree oil

few drops of detergent

tsp molasses

one litre of warm water

Shake and pour into the affected soil and they should come to the surface, where yu can pick them off.

hi phreaky - GG's nailed the ID - curl grub or lawn grub or as indiginious Austraians call em "mully grubs" - I've used a 'bunnings' brand named 'chemspray Lawn Grub' mixed a 2ml diluted solution up (well under application specs) I gave the pots 1 dose which did the trick.

oh! one more experience worth noting is the symptoms with an active "mully Grub".

The weird thing is that single branches would just flownder overnight one at time.

They can do some damage if left to munch on @ the roots :(

:yinyang:

Nitty.
