HID Lighting 4 Clones

Has anyone sucessfully used HID lighting for clones. Everything I have read says to use fluros for cloning. However I want to know if it is possible to use say a 400watt HPS for cloning? If anyone has sucessfully done this, how far would you hang the light?

Yeah, but keep it 3 or so feet above them and use a humidity dome, fluoro's are normally used as their light is sufficient for the job and they are cheap to run, check out the mother/clone link in my signature.

exacatly, why use 400w HID when 40 or 80 watts of fluro will do same job

Using a 400watt to clone would allow you produce clones during the veg. cycle.

I use what ever light iam growing under, so that way it works out cheaper as the light would be running weather or not I got a fluro as well,

 

It seems to root them faster and less die,

I just put the clone and cube on the top of the medium and then put the bottom cutt off a 1.5 litre coke bottle over the top like a mini glasshouse thing.

 

I havent used my fluros for awhile now.

I usually clone 2 days after I turn to 12/12 , for next time. Therefore I gotta put under 18 hour light, no sense using 400w when fluro's will do the job
