First time for me watching both. I don't know if Easy Rider did anything to dispel yesteryears propaganda that smoking marijuana leads to harder drugs. When Jack Nicholson's character is about to smoke his first joint and questions whether it leads to harder drugs, Fonda's character says nothing.???

Later on they're dropping acid so what does that lead viewers to believe? I'll file that one away with "Stone" which may have been controversial in its day but doesn't have the same impact today.

I thought i sensed an underlying theme of intolerance and what the outcome can be but if the inbred redneck hillbillys thought they were faggots, they would have bent the bikers over their hogs while making them holler like a hog. That's what they deserved for not taking the opportunity to tell the audience smoking pot does not lead to harder drugs.
