ABC Internet filtering delayed.

Recommended Posts

Update: Tune in to the ABC tonight to see the efforts of GetUp members in the campaign against internet filtering. At 8.30pm, Four Corners covers the campaign and at 9.35pm, Q&A explores internet censorship, featuring former GetUp National Director, Brett Solomon.

Good to hear, as an avid 4corners and qanda fan I'll be checking these out. I seem to recall that the legislation for the filter has already been put on the backburner for the moment, but I may be mistaken.

It's bloody awful that we ended up with Conroy in the Communications and Broadband ministry. Couldn't have picked a worse bloke. Hopefully the way he's completely cocked this up will incline Rudd to stick him somewhere else after the election.

Don't even want to think about what Abbott would do if he gets in though. Nothing like a hardline catholic who idolises people like Bob Santamaria to get their knickers in a twist whenever there is the vaugest suggestion that someone, somewhere, may be enjoying freedom to communicate and most importantly, freedom to masturbate to strange and weird porn. I have no idea how many times I have said this - but:

Aren't we a democracy, where the politicians are meant to work towards the will of the people?

Jeez, even a minority such as cannabis smokers are meant to have the right to our dreams.

The government is so screwed on so many issues, it's a shame our system works by the 50% majority vote. A true democracy should allow for the needs of even us stoners, allowing the passing of reasonable laws without the support of biased political party members. A 2-major-party system is not what Australia should be, because they ALMOST ALWAYS disagree and just vote against each other. If we had say, 15 political parties, it would be harder to convince every member from the other parties to vote against what they see is right.

Cheers

Yeah we are definitely on the position dammed if you do dammed if you dont.

Do i vote for the neo fascist on the left or the right?

Conroy and his Christian crazy s can go and eat a dick.

Im so glad so many people have got up and spoke out about this, and yeah seems like its

been shelved.

Q and A was very encouraging to say the least.

But yeah can you imagine if abbot gets in? we really are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

It wont be shelved for long m8's, it's been put on the backburner so it wont go against them in the upcoming election, if they get back in we're screwed for sure, even if the other mob get in (OK they're 2 heads on the same snake in reality) I wouldn't be surprised if we get hit with it. This is a global agenda thing and not just a local thing. Speaking of which........

Conroy gets UN broadband gig

Stephen Conroy, minister for broadband, communications and the digital economy, has been given a job at the United Nations to help develop and accelerate broadband rollout across the world.

Despite delays and cost concerns over the rollout of the National Broadband Network, Senator Conroy has been appointed as a founder member of the Broadband Commission for Digital Development at the International Telecommunication Union

It won't take long for people to get around it.

I saw an interview last night where a woman was running a business that supplies school canteens. She was put on the list after her web page was hacked and porno movies were linked to her web site, she rang ACMA (i think that is what the censors are called) took days and lost business before she was off the black list.

This is going to be one fucking big stuff up when it happens. Any prohibition of any thing is not going to stop the bad guys, never has never will. Rock spiders will still get their jollys and the innocent will suffer.

Rather depressing but this world is being run by facists, not here but everywhere. Howards gun control has failed as has the "war" on drugs. "Sheel be right mate" has got to stop. Our government plays on that complacency. :scratchin:

'Our' government is simply a tool of bigger puppet masters, like most other governments. Our pollies are either ignorant or complicit but methinks it's just about game over for the world financial scam and all fiat currencies including ours will be revalued to their true worth (i.e nothing) and you'll see a global depression to make the last one seem like a hiccup. Not to worry, those good puppies in Canberra and the states who have pleased their masters will be shielded to some extent.
