Cloning gel as general root stimulator

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I have some clonex purple gel. I'm about to pot up some seedlings, and want to bury them deeper as they got a little stretchy.

I was wondering - has anyone tried putting some gel on the stem of a seedling prior to burying that stem?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to dilute some gel to add to watering - as a kind of root stimulator? I'm waiting on some h&g "roots excelurator" but was wondering if gel can be used in a similar way. Couldn't find out much on the net about it.

Ha. And just as I was preparing the seedlings for potting up, a courier dropped off my H&G order. So I'm now very keen to see what roots excelurator can do.

EDIT: Might still be interesting, though, if someone knows the answer to this. I figure it would probably do some good to use clonex in the way I describe.

I forget what the stuff is called i'm using, but i thought most of them work in the same way...

An acidic solution which partially breaks down the outer layer of the stem making it much easier for new roots to form.

If i'm right, i wouldn't be adding it to anything except to dip cuttings in eh.

Obviously i could be waaaaay off, don't flame me too bad. Maybe i'm about to learn something :wallbash:
