OUTDOOR PLANTS - SOME ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE

Recommended Posts

I have planted seeds in a great area in my garden, the soil was mixed with cow and sheep manure beforehand, there is some shade during the day, I found my other plants were not coping in the direct sun all day. I have water trickling out the hose 24 hours, and sprinklers every second day, its very hot and dry in WA at the moment. I used to just throw seeds in the garden in South Africa and yes, the "weeds"grew all over the show, Im hoping this will work here. The seedlings are about 5cm high now, will take photos soon, any advice to help me on my way will be highly appreciated

Welcome to OS mate. :toke:

Sounds like your on the right track so far Harley. This is the most crucial time for you plants so baby them for the next couple of weeks and they'll be home and hosed. Mulch well , if they get too leggy bury them up and keep the excessive heat of them till they harden up.

It all depends how much you want too get into the "growing thing" and weather or not you want too go organic etc etc. I suggest you read, read and read some more if your keen. Its the best way.

Start watching gardening Australia cause apart from being a great view they're always showing good examples and reinforcing the principles of organic gardening. Plenty of soil porn too ;)

hi im on the east coast, so dont know to much about the west, imo to much water can be just as much trouble as to little water, you have to have the right balance, imo a sprikler every second day is enuff, you want the roots to spread looking for water, good roots are what your looking for at this stage, they are pretty hardy 'weeds', maybe some shade cloth will help out with the sun..good luck.....tony

garden bed grows are my favorite mate

check out pics in my album

i use the fertilizers, seasol and powergro from bunnings warehouse to establish and harden up my seedlings at the start

also a good mulch, coconut husks is a cheapie also from bunnings comes in square blocks, add water and presto 50-80 liters of mulch.

i would stop the trickling of water 24/7 and just a good water in every morning and night

cannabis doesnt like its roots constantly under water its best to let the soil dry out inbetween waterings

any questions mate ask away

stay safe
