Heat mats for Cloning

Hello Everyone,

 

I have just started to get heavily into taking clones, (with mixed results) so far I have had about a 60% success rate on rooting the clones. If possible I would like to change this into a 100% success rate and I was wondering if a heat mat for my clones would help. Right now I do my clones in a weak nutrient solution in rockwool under a cloning light for about two weeks until they start to show ample roots.

 

What does everyone reckon?....do heating mats work?.....I have looked at the expensive ones with a thermostat but I am tossing up which one to buy???...any suggestions guys?

I don't currently use a heat mat, but i lift them up off the cold ground/concrete/tiles wotever with a few dvd cases and got a good stike rate... if that helps any

i get much higher (95%) strike rate using my mat, i suggest to use a themostat controlled one as opposed to a mat that just heats up 10 degrees hotter its uncontrollable!

I don't use a heat mat. Rockwool you really have to dial it in not to wet and not to dry.

i set mine to 40c for the first 24/48hrs....then down to 30c for the remainder.....just keep up the moisture to em.

I don't use a heat mat, never had a problem with getting cuts to root in soil, cutting sand, jiffies, coco/perlite or rockwool. I do put a hot water bottle under the propagator to speed things up sometimes, usually when it's really cold in winter.

and not only do they increase the success rate

imo they also speed up root development
