Babies looking a bit poorly....

Recommended Posts

Hey peoples, I need some advice - I've germed three little ones from seed, raised them under flouros until they were a week old and potted them in a seed raising soil mix plus coir in large pots.

They're about three weeks old now and were looking great up until a couple of days ago.

I've been feeding with Miracle Gro Seafeed 3 in 1 at 1/3 strength every third watering (watering every 2nd or 3rd day depending on how dry the soil is.)

They've been hardening off outside in partial sunlight for two weeks, and were due to go out into the garden next week, but the bottom leaves have gone yellow and are starting to burn at the tips - I've been reading up, and it looks like nutrient deficiency to me... just not sure if it's nitrogen or phosphorus that they need!

Am I not feeding them enough, or is it something else?

Any advice would be gratefully accepted!

hey mate, :peace:

sorry to here ya having dramas. B) .... might i suggest you hit em with some fish emulsion at full dose.......it wont burn the little honeys and should have all the required food/trace elements :bongon:

also, when ya poor the water/nutes in, poor from a height so the soil lifts and turns over its self.....this aerates the soil, pushing out the old air and dragging new stuff in :xcited:

last of all, check out mi 'super sauce', it does wonders for em :peace: .... you can find it by using the search engine^ or click on mi name and select 'find users topics' :xcited:

all the best,

Hi Sidone . You need too bury them up. They are good examples of seedlings that have been light and wind deficient hence the whispiness and stretch of the main stem. Always bury up your seedlings as this allows the plant too put on more vegetative growth faster, and also side branching. They'll come good if you can coax them with the right environment in the next week and besides the poor growth structure they dont look too bad. So again bury them up and if they stretch again bury them up again. :xcited:

Good luck but don' think you'l need it :bongon:

Chronmasta suggestion is good :bongon:

I use a watering can with a 'rose' spreader for improved aeration - works well
