AN AUSTRALIAN man has been arrested at Bali airport after customs officers found two grams of marijuana in his luggage.

Robert Paul McJannett, 48, was arrested after arriving in Bali with his adult son on a Virgin Blue flight from Perth on Monday night.

Bali police allege Mr McJannett was carrying the marijuana in a plastic bag in socks in his luggage.

The head of the Bali Police Drugs Squad, Colonel Kokot Indarto, said police intended to charge McJannett with article 112 of the narcotics law for carrying drugs from abroad, which carries a penalty of more than five years' jail.

"Because he carried more than two grams, this could not be indicated as users because users limitation is only 0.15 gram. That's why he's aimed with carrying drugs," Col Indarto said.

Airport customs official Bagus Endro Wibowo said Mr McJannett had initially been uncooperative following his arrest.

"He even ran with the marijuana and tried to flush it in toilet, but the officers managed to avoid it," Mr Wibowo said.

Let's hope not... However, one would think that with Bali's archaic and sinister laws re pot and the well documented plights of those unfortunate enough to be caught ( or set up ) in the past, that these factors alone would be enough to deter even the most fanatical smoker at even contemplating the thought of carrying.

Hopefully the socks won't be harmed in any way and they can be donated to the poor sockless people out there who happen to not have any socks. :(

If the recievers of said socks had a few grams of the good herb inside of them ... I think "charity" could really go a long way with that type of humanity :peace:

However , it seems that the sock methodology was the only thing this attempted smuggling had going for it ...

Trying to flush socks down the toilet it easily noticed , as the atomic particles making up the sock are not easily "flushed" by water ... incineration would have been the best bet but I'm sure the bathroom was closer that the Boiler room ... plus I'm guessing that there was someone standing gaurd so the could easily hear the sounds of sock-ingness. They tend to be trained in that type of thing ... yep , spotting fake plastic penises is also in their job description ... :toke:

Btw , if the limit is 0.15 grams then that is fucken crazy ... what if a native bee followed you to the airport and deposited that amount of sweet nectar in your socks ... you'd be peeved when ya found out ...

And besides ... most people would smoke a 1/4 of a gram in a decent joint ... 0.15gms is just absurd ... like ,... ya could walk that in on your shoes ffs :toke:

Anyway , those 3rd world countries have trouble evolving past the bi-ped formation of humanity ... i'm not racist by any means (yes I realise that often people say that to disguise their own racist beleiving) ...

It's just that because they haven't evolved as much as non-monkey alien in-breeds that they tend to have a rather primative views ;)

Cheerz all ... and stay un-persecuted lol

Budman ;)

Sock On! ;)

Indonesia, like other third world countries, lack the luxury to entertain democracy. When populations explode in number and resources get thin per capita, human life gets cheap. The idea that all are equal simply vanishes as corruption and criminal activity fill the niche on material needs for the few. Meaning, to keep Indonesian police, bureaucrats, prison guards ect in employment, the farce of a police state acts in their interests. It serves them well to have Westerners languishing in prisons for decades, meanwhile their families (Western money) continue to pour in long after the "I've Been to Bali too" holiday is over. Indonesia will not change her laws when it suits her financially to stay droconian. Besides, they're an archipeligo of many islands, cultures, religions and creeds. To hold that together requires a police state with swift and brutal repression. Travel there at your own risk.
