4 stems from one intersection

Hey just another quickie, one of my young plants has 2 stems growing on each side of one intersetion, it's on the second node pair from the bottom and there's about 6-8 nodes on the plant so far.

 

What can i do to make these little stems grow up nice and big, I already topped the plant's youngest growth and will wait for the new shoots before i do anything else, here's a couple pics

 

 

 

this is the plant on the left, if you look right in the middle you see 2 shoots, both sides have them but only on this intersection

Cut it of just above that node and those 4 tips will grow as the main tips. Will be interesting to see if the branches grow with 4 branches per node. Have you sexed them yet? Often plants that have more than 2 branches are males.

i'd hate to waste the top of the plant, which is a fair bit of plant to chop, can i save the top for a clone?

it's a healthy looking plant too which is great!

If i go ahead with the chop i dont mind if it's a male cos i would like to build my seed bank a bit

 

when these 4 brances grow when should i top them?...after they develop 3 or 4 nodes? or after the first nodes of each branch get big enough(about the same as the ones in the photo)?..hopefully they produce 4 stems too, that would be a Hedge more than a bush

You could tip them or just let them grow. If I tipped them, I'd let them grow a few nodes first.

I'm already using a soil mix of

soil

perlite

vermiculite

slow release fertiliser (pellet form)

sprinkle of lime

 

stem on this plant is looking nice and thick.

the bigger the root system the bigger the plant.... the roots account for about 1/3rd of the plants over all height.. give or take..

 

the bigger the pot the bigger the plant.. or better still.. stick them in the ground..

just made the chop, will wait and see how the stems grow on this one, also made a clone from the top of the plant in my little greenhouse

 

I intend on changing pots soon, i'll check for root-binding periodically, they lift out faily easily
