mushroom compost

Recommended Posts

chook shit, cow shit, any sort of shit... but maybe not as high as 30%

I'll also nod in the direction of mushy compost, the mushrooming has a beneficial effect on the compost for general planting and I know of no adverse effects in relation to our particular plant of interest. Not sure what would be a good ratio, I've only ever used a few big handfulls as 'improver'.

I don't think it's totally out of the realm that 100% mushy compost would make a decent base. Personally, I'd happily try 50%+potting mix+(maybe some perlite).

Hi Chucko..I don't think you could do harm with mushy compost. No matter how much you use. I had a few left over 100lt grow bags from last years grow. pretty much filled em up with m/compost. They grew just as good as the ones in the primo mix i use. I'd be curious what the ph of m/compost is though. Trick to using tons of shit is to let it break down first. Sounds like your big on shit. But you gotta be careful with it. Mammal shits fine but fresh bird shits pretty savage. Can't let it come into contact with roots to soon. Or else it'll burn em.. Getting me all hyped up here..Season starts for me in a couple of weeks.. Good luck..b.b.
