how do i speed up the finishing time?

Recommended Posts

hey guys and girls,

another question - i've asked if it is at all possible to decrease the period it takes for any particular strain to flower. i was advised that it was strain dependent, however i've heard otherwise.

i grow in 10% perlite and 90%coco - the strain i'm growing is white widow by dutch passion and it recommends an 8 week flowering time. mine are in theie 9th week and look like they have another week left.

i was wondering if any of these factors below can increase flowering speed:

The method of growing - eg. if i moved from coco to clay balls 100% hydro setup (because they are getting more frequent watering (and more oxygen) instead of once every 24 hrs)

the medium obviously - from coco to clay balls (more oxygen)

ventilation (because i reckon i need to at least double my air intake.. the plants are happy but if this speeds things up then it's a good investment)

Amount of light - moving from 400W to 600W or 800W in the same space - while increasing ventilation.

or are there any other factors people can think of to decrease time till harvest?

i've heard of a 4 week flower period.. that's insane, but i don't wanna stinge on quality either.

Most of the things you've mentioned there will make bigger plants/buds and increase plant health, but don't affect how they mature.

There are certain additives you can use to cut flower time apparently, of the top of my head, Canna Boost Accelerator is one of them which I used last grow, but I didn't notice any difference to flower time, they still took 8-9weeks.

flowering time is pretty much strain dependant.. but with optimum conditions.. and as long os you dont get any bugs or hiccups i guess this would make harvesting a little faster.. but really your only talking a few days here or there... so its still relying on the genetics of a particular strain..

years ago i toyed with the idea of speeding up flowering by dropping the light hours to 10-11 hours on... with 10-11 hours off.. saving a few hours a day to be carried onto the next day... ( over a week grow youll gain an extra day... over 8 weeks youll gain an extra week).. i never put my theory into action.. and really even if it does work.. youre only going to save a few days here or there rather than weeks... having not putting this to the test im not sure if bud production would suffer.. but you could only assume that it would...
