Vegen out 18/6 or 24/0?

hey guys got a few babies comin up under fluros which light cycle thought plants only grew in the dark period

let me know

I don't think there is any particular advantage to veging 24/0, the plant will certainly grow on that cycle (or non-cycle as the case may be) but anecdotally it may stimulate hermi

I've grown both ways and haven't really found much difference

 

18/6 gives the plant a little down time though which according to some is vital

 

Personally I use 18/6 cause it saves me 6hrs of electricity

i tend just to burn the 400w mh all the time , that said i still rest em up for a few hours now and again , if i spray or think there may be a problem .. just does away with the on off thing .. timer , batteries .. kin about .. lazy egh

in past controlled grows comparing the 18/6 with the 20/4 showed little advantage of 20/4 light hour over the 18/6.

 

18/6 showed a advantage over 20/4 in that is more economical & gave th plants the much needed 'rest' (sleep) time out.

Yep, I'll cast another vote for 18/6. I think the downtime on the plant is as important as the power saving.

18/6 gets my vote. Root development is optimum with a reasonable dark period.

I remember reading this discussion on Overgrow and the concensus was 18/6 gives best value for money.

24hr straight will give better growth but only slightly.

Stress to the plant by having no dark period was debateable

Metal Halide lamps need switching off periodically or they fail is one other thing I can think of.
